Honestly, I was not excited about MTSU, but I would like to have WKU in the conference. I hope that the MAC takes them anyway and finds a better 14th. I would love to have UMASS all sports or one of the Dakota States.

I was more excited about their proximity to Nashville as i could see NIU play there and enjoy the city afterwards.

But yes, WKU excites me more with their athletic success since they have a strong BB tradition and are pretty good in football too.

WKU is only a few minutes further from Nashville than MTSU is. Maybe 20-25 minutes further.

WKU would be great for basketball. Maybe the MAC office can work with WKU and help find a #14??

Maybe MAC leadership will change their mind and invite WKU only. Go with 13 members for a bit and look at the landscape after a couple years. I like NDSU as a football-only member. They're the most successful FCS team in football and add a new state/market. You'd only have to travel there once every two years with them in the MAC West.

Yes, take WKU regardless. We've been at 13 teams before with Marshall and it was fine. #14 will come about later, but gotta strike while the iron is hot.[/align]

WKU without MTSU may be a blessing in disguise, grab a higher quality #14 down the road. I hope the MAC is seriously considering this.

Taking WKU also makes the MAC stronger and leaves the patchwork glob of schools named CUSA weaker.

I agree.

Go to 13 and figure the rest out. Doubt the merry go around is done with conferences. Someone from the B12 is going to get out. A CUSA with a bunch of FCS teams is going to be interesting.

Yes, absolutely, the MAC should take WKU right now.

Don't rule out FIU as a possible 14th member.

Would ESPN increase the payout for just WKU? Or for WKU and some unknown #14? Seems unlikely.

The question is will MAC leadership take WKU alone. Are they set in concrete as 12 or 14 only? Sounds like fans are "go"---------BUT MAC presidents will decide.

I get the feeling UMASS is not going to change.

Are there other possibles? Would the MAC take a FCS call-up?? Missouri State-- I see travel concerns from the MAC-- But I think Missouri State would say yes if strongly courted.

Hard no to UMass. Bring up an FCS school like Illinois State to build on the presence in Illinois

WKU all sports, NDSU football only. NDSU brings a brand to MAC football.

SIU, Illinois St or Indiana St worth a look as well.
