FAU stadium is nice. Very similar to what we built 14 years ago, but not fully enclosed and they opted for more chairbacks from the start. The also fixed the stupidity of having the closest thing to the field be a walkway and not actual seats. Built the same way with future upgrades in mind though. Our 2007 stadium and the way it is today are basically 2 completely different stadiums at this point.

The $45 million UTSA RACE (Rowdy Athletics Center of Excellence) facility opened up this past August. Last phase for it includes the covered (not indoor) practice field.

Indoor basketball practice facility was announced at opening of the RACE facility. Will have a sky bridge that connects to the new Football facility and is projected to cost $25 million.

Imagine we'll be hearing something on this soon.

Any chatter on what the increase could be?

We have a leaked draft version of our Athletics Facilities Master Plan from 2019.

The file I have is too big so I'll give the Cliff's Notes.

Phase I Stadium Expansion is 15k seats for $65.146 M
Phase II Stadium Expansion is another 15k for $58.204 M
IPF is $29.822 M

Guess I lied:

Basketball Training and Student Enhancement Facility: $42.699 M

What ever I saw a while back had the original plans/foundation being able to support 40k if the plans ever call for it.

Correct. One end zone was removed to build a new football facility a couple of years ago. The stadium could not be configured for 70k+ any longer.

Rice has a nice stadium, but it is difficult to believe they played a Super Bowl at Rice Stadium. Times have changed when you look at pro stadiums today.

It's interesting to me that the Houston fan who is getting out of this trash dump is the one posting all about the schools coming into the AAC. I see practically no other AAC original team remotely interested in this. If your school is leaving this train wreck then be a gracious winner a nd stop stirring the pot.

Many years ago I attended a Wichita State baseball game played at Rice. It was a very nice baseball facility. I assume it still is. Don't know much about the other additions baseball stadiums but based on past history I would assume Charlotte would have a decent stadium and based on the pictures of their football and basketball facilities I would assume that UNT has a pretty decent baseball stadium too.

Baseball is important to some of us.

Agree. I was also asking about the Charlotte Stadium because I was legit interested. Don’t get me wrong, I’m excited to go to the Big12, but I still have a soft spot for the AAC and constantly being the underdogs and still plan to support the AAC.

Wichita State and Memphis are really going to have to go play in high school arenas. Jesus Christ. UTSA and FAU serious with that?

It's important to Charlotte, our new AD sees baseball as a potential revenue sport for us. Investments have been made and there are more to come.

That is bad news. What is it with UNT and SMU, two Dallas area schools that don't play baseball. That is un-American! Tulsa doesn't either. The 3 decent possible road trips in baseball and none of you play. Wow.

I wish you guys were closer in distance to Wichita. I assumed you guys were committed to baseball. You had a really good baseball coach, Loren Hibbs for years.

Are there any plans to demolish the other end zone seating (not needed) and/or modernize the stadium.

grades
Football

UNT & UAB = A+ (thrilled to play here, very proud to have these additions)

FAU = B+ (probably an A after I visit the beach)

RICE = B- (horrible team above average stadium)

UTSA = C+ (has character though and big enough for amazing atmosphere)

Charlotte = D- (huge issue and must expand immediately)

Basketball

UNT, UAB, Charlotte = A (thrilled to play here, very proud to have these additions)

RICE = C (not good but enough to live with, similar to Tulane)

FAU & UTSA = F- (these arenas are a complete EMBARRASSMENT. My high school has a bigger gym than these two and if I was in charge would NEVER invite these two schools without knowing this will be changed)

I know TCU and Dallas Baptist seem to have a good team almost every year. They do very well. I am surprised SMU and UNT don’t sponsor it either. College baseball has one of the most underrated post seasons in all of college sports. Very exciting.
