Rice should implode that stadium. Build a decent stadium of around 20K. Have it expandable if ever the need. Make a pitch to host a 3rd tiered bowl game with the AAC as one of the partners.

Rice had a Super Bowl. It has the best sight lines of any stadium I've ever been in and that includes 4 current and 4 past NFL stadiums. I'd much rather watch a game there than the Texans stadium. Its a great stadium. Just needs some amenities added. And with a big promotion, they drew 50k for Air Force just about 15 years ago. They can draw big crowds for Texas.

Woulda, Coulda, Shoulda...Rice hasn't drawn crap in forever

Sure UT can come in and spike the numbers. Not sure it was Air Force that drew 50K. They last hosted them in 1997. You might recheck that Bullet.

Rice needs to build a niche stadium of 20K, It doesn't need to play in an oversized tarped off bowl.

Why do fans of schools with issues always have solutions for others.?

I say we don't play in gyms with pads on the walls. San Antonio has an arena, and FAU can use Miami's until they build one. We run way to fast and hard to play with f'n pads on the walls.
Football schools my azz !!

I wouldnt. Rice reminds me of when I flipped houses. Didnt care how pretty it was. Just cared that it had good bones I could build off of.

If I was rice, Id just remodel. The end zone seats are the worst in the stadium anyhow, so why not clear them out and do what the Buccaneers did. They have a "village" on one end that has concessions and a cool hangout area and of course the pirate ship on the other end.

Best part about having extra space is that you can use it in all kinds of creative ways and then later if you need it, clear it out and remodel again.

Why not do an old school type of remodel? Keep the nostalgia and play into the old style of decor. Make that stadium look like its seen 100 years of history and its all on display. Too many time we throw out the old for whatever is currently hot, but notice how nostalgia is always in vogue.
Restaurants have been using that style for decades and it always works.

I honestly think Rices future can be incredibly bright.

Hey hey hey..... kind of getting personal over a stunning example of the cutting edge of stadium development (well... if you stop the clock in 1950....) Im just tickled they got rid of the pee trofts a few years back.....

Rice stadium will be one of the very few stadiums in the AAC to have hosted a Presidential speech, mind you (back when she was a very attractive 12 years old, and the hot topic was getting to the moon)

"But why, some say, the Moon? Why choose this as our goal? And they may well ask, why climb the highest mountain? Why, 35 years ago, fly the Atlantic? Why does Rice play Texas?

We choose to go to the Moon. We choose to go to the Moon...We choose to go to the Moon in this decade and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard"

FAU had a strong 2nd half, outscouring Miami 46-34 but came up just short in losing 68-66.

Crowd of 2,772 almost filled the 2,900 seat arena last night.
