Can they actually do it? I mean they're just one vote, right?

RE: Teams leaving CUSA
CUSA headquarters isn't going to really make a difference. The WAC headquarters has been in Colorado Springs forever, and they haven't had a Colorado team since CSU-Fort Collins was part of the WAC-16.
A lot of conferences are like that. Plus, UTEP is still in the league.

It's a blank slate, so I don't know. I think anything's on the table at this point.
More than likely???
No offense but the slate is not all blank at this time, and a whole lot of things would have to happen before any of the items you mention actually come to fruition. If they even actually happen.
Dallas will no longer be the home of CUSA. That's a fact
There is no way Judy survives this.
Links? To either of these facts?
Why would the conference headquarters stay in Dallas. There's only 1 remaining Texas team and it is nowhere near Dallas. Why would any commissioner who has overseen the downfall of cusa be allowed to stay as commisioner.
Yeah, that’s just dumb. I could see Nashville…

I mean for anything you do it for aesthetics. Gives you a small news article and can help bolster a "this league will be moving in a different direction/have a different philosophy" story spin

RE: Teams leaving CUSA
If you put the conference headquarters in a place where no one would want to live in then you'll be getting the commissioner that's really interested in the job. LOL
I said that tongue in cheek. We don't want any desperate person wanting the job only as a stepping stone...which it is anyway. But hey, you can't be too obvious.

CUAAC 3.5
We are by no means left damaged, hurt yes....but a smart leader can forge a plan with what's left.
Fire Judy and hire Jim Delaney. Go hard after CBS.
There are options for the remaining 8.
A Sun Belt merger, adding Liberty and JMU...
We can EASILY come out of this as the stronger confidence.
You are exactly right. This is really a net positive for the conference. Leaner and better IMO. Only loss was UAB and FAU baseball the rest have been a drag on CUSA
I’m surprised that ODU wasn’t extended an invite to the AAC
But with a core of Tech, ODU, Marshall, UTEP, USM and WKU in basketball we could invite JMU, Coastal, Appy for the east.
Then invite Lafayette for the west. Those four invites would benefit all 3 major sports.
More likely as the guest on Fox and Co. said today on Monroe radio to Tech alum hosts, Tech best case scenario may be independent in football and other sports to Southland or WAC. Play your cards right and maybe the Southland or WAC will take you!

RE: Teams leaving CUSA
Really rough week for CUSA, six to AAC and two to the SBC.
You can’t seriously think App State would come to CUSA. I do feel bad for those members left in CUSA that don’t join other conferences, I would be sick to my stomach if I were in their shoes.

I really didn't think market, facilities, basketball winning a tourney game, budget etc really mattered in 2021.
Football is king, yet again a conference bets on North Texas' potential to put it all together while teams who have been consistently good are passed over.
Really you don’t think geography or market played a factor? I think that it was the #1 factor times 10. Look at all the teams invited all major metro areas.
No I meant I didn't expect market size to play in this at all. I guess I read too much into an article by Matt Brown, someone I had never even heard of before all this, go figure.
We all know UNT does not deliver the Dallas market, if we had even a decent football team I would get it, it's still a little puzzling. Also as many have said I don't expect to actually be in a conference with a few of the higher tier schools when it's all said and done.

I doubt it will be easy, but CUSA can get stronger from this. There's nowhere to go but up. For right now, there's still a strong core of Louisiana Tech, Southern Mississippi, and Marshall. If these three schools stick around, CUSA will be okay.
The Sunbelt says they aren't expanding, but I don't believe it yet. If they were smart, they'd strike at the heart of CUSA, and put it out of commission. Taking Marshall, LTU, USM, and ODU would be quit a coup for them. It would be the first time that they are the aggressor in realignment, as opposed to the victim.
