What atrocities has Israel committed? I guess if you think that protecting themselves from daily barrages of rockets and suicide vests is atrocious then you have a point. Is that what you consider atrocious junior?

Really? Israel was a county made up from nothing and the people that made it thought, cool let's put this country in a place were others are already living let another a place that is probably the most contested real estate ever. Israel is not innocent and there is not just war.

Not too different than your own private holdings. The Cherokee Nation would like to speak with you about a deed of gift to your residence. (I'm making a bit of a guess as to where you live.)

Give me a break. A country made up from nothing? The Jewish people didn’t just randomly pick some geographical region and decide to start a country there. Their claim to that parcel of land goes back over 3,000 years. They have every right to be there and every right to defend themselves.

RE: Omar: U.S. And Israel Commit ‘Unthinkable Atrocities’ Like The Taliban, Hamas
Quote:House Republicans, led by Minority Leader Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), will press forward with a privileged resolution to strip Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) of her position on the House Foreign Affairs Committee following remarks she made appearing to compare the United States and Israel to terrorist regimes, Hamas and the Taliban — but Democrats say they will not take action against Omar.

As the Daily Wire reported Sunday, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) refused to condemn Omar for her remarks, calling Omar a “valued” member of the Democratic caucus, and insisting that a statement Pelosi made last week on Omar’s comments was not a “rebuke,” but rather a message of “thanks” for a “clarification” Omar issued late Thursday.

“We did not rebuke her,” Pelosi said. “We thanked — acknowledged that she made a clarification.”

Last week, Omar wrote, in a tweet, “We must have the same level of accountability and justice for all victims of crimes against humanity. We have seen unthinkable atrocities committed by the U.S., Hamas, Israel, Afghanistan, and the Taliban.” She later said that she was referencing cases before the International Criminal Court while in conversation with Secretary of State Antony Bliken, but did not point to specific examples of American and Israeli “atrocities” or “crimes against humanity.”

According to Punchbowl news, Rep. McCarthy is expected to fast-track a motion to remove Omar from her committee assignment, similar to what Democrats did with Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) following her own controversial remarks. The motion is marked as “privileged” putting it ahead of other House business.

Eight Republicans sent a letter to Pelosi late last week, according to Fox News, demanding the Speaker take her own action against the Minnesota Democrat, reminding Pelosi that “it is the responsibility of the party’s leadership in the House of Representatives to hold accountable egregious words and actions made by Members of the Party.”

“Congresswoman Ilhan Omar has made a congressional career out of the following: Fueling anti-Semitic violence against Jewish communities by perpetuating false stereotypes and anti-Semitic tropes; denigrating strategic allies of the United States; accusing members of Congress of unconstitutionally pleading allegiance to a foreign sovereign because of their support of the U.S.-Israel partnership; whitewashing the September 11 terrorist attacks that resulted in the death of over 3,000 innocent Americans, and drawing [an] equivalence between the United States and criminal organizations such as Hamas and the Taliban—both of which have been deemed by the Department of State as terrorist organizations,” they wrote.

Republicans have also pressed forward with a separate resolution pushing censure against Omar and other members of the “Squad” that rushed to her defense, including Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) and Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI), who accused Pelosi of “policing women of color.”

Democrats appear to be concerned, however, with policing internal conflict instead. After “clarifying” her remarks about Israel, the United States, and “terrorist” activities, Omar lashed out at Jewish Democrats who broke with party leadership and condemned her remarks, and members of the “Squad” quickly followed suit.

Omar accused her colleagues of “harassment” and “Islamophobia.” Ocasio-Cortez accused the group of “constant vilification, intentional mischaracterization, and public targeting of @IlhanMN” and Tlaib tweeted that “Freedom of speech doesn’t exist for Muslim women in Congress. The benefit of the doubt doesn’t exist for Muslim women in Congress. House Democratic leadership should be ashamed of its relentless, exclusive tone policing of Congresswomen of color.”

The harsh words prompted Pelosi to try to appear neutral on the issue on Sunday, it seems, but Monday’s Republican moves may prompt more ire.

Every single country or organized group that has participated in war has committed atrocity. America and our allies are no different. For some our country is like our parents when we are growing up. Our infallible heroes. It is a sad day when we find out they are not. America can not wear white down the aisle.

War is a damned dirty, messy, nasty game. That's why it should be a last resort. Sometimes it's an only resort, and in those cases the least arm is done by winning quickly and getting over with it.

If you are going to use human shields, then innocent people are going to get killed.

RE: Omar: U.S. And Israel Commit ‘Unthinkable Atrocities’ Like The Taliban, Hamas
Quote:A majority of voters do not agree with Rep. Ilhan Omar’s (D-MN) statement equating the Unites States and Israel with terrorist organizations like Hamas and the Taliban, a Rasmussen poll released Wednesday found.

“We have seen unthinkable atrocities committed by the U.S., Hamas, Israel, Afghanistan, and the Taliban,” wrote Omar in a tweet. “I asked [Secretary of State Antony Blinken] where people are supposed to go for justice.”

According to the poll, 61 percent of voters reject Omar’s “anti-American rhetoric,” and half support censuring her. Only 24 percent of voters agree with Omar’s comparison and 15 percent are not sure. Eighty percent of Republicans, 41 percent of Democrats, and 57 percent of voters not affiliated with either major party disagree with the comparison as well.

Since her statement last week, 12 Jewish Democrats in the House have condemned her remarks, and a coalition of more than 200 rabbis sent a letter, first obtained by Fox News, to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) criticizing her for not removing Omar (MN) from her from the Foreign Affairs Committee.

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) promised during a Tuesday interview on FNC’s “Fox & Friends” to remove her from the Foreign Affairs Committee if the GOP wins the House.

McCarthy said:

This is an individual that has not once but on numerous occasions been antisemitic. Her own entire Congress had to rebuke her in the last one. But she’s not just antisemitic. She’s anti-American now. She’s equating America to Taliban, to Hamas. She’s discrediting our greatest ally in the Middle East, Israel, the only democracy.

Nearly two-thirds [65 percent] of GOP voters would support censuring Omar for her comments, as would 35 percent of Democrats and 50 percent of unaffiliated voters, according to the poll. Forty-six percent of Democrat voters oppose censuring Omar, as do 26 percent of Republicans and 31 percent of unaffiliated voters.

Out of all voters, younger people [41 percent] were more likely to agree with Omar, according to the poll. Rasmussen further found that President’s Biden‘s strongest supporters tended to view Omar favorably:

Among voters who Strongly Approve of Biden’s job performance as president, 66% have a favorable impression of Omar and 39% agree with her comments comparing the United States to Hamas and the Taliban. By contrast, among voters who Strongly Disapprove of Biden’s performance, 92% have an unfavorable impression of Omar and 91% disagree with her comments accusing America of “crimes against humanity.”

Since her remark, Omar has strongly fought back against criticism of her, slamming her colleagues for perpetuating “islamophobic tropes.”

Omar was reportedly referring to two open ICC investigation involving the U.S. and Israel, but Democrat colleagues called her statement a “false equivalency” in their letter:

Ignoring the differences between democracies governed by the rule of law and contemptible organizations that engage in terrorism at best discredits one’s intended argument and at worst reflects deep-seated prejudice.

The United States and Israel are imperfect and, like all democracies, at times deserving of critique, but false equivalencies give cover to terrorist groups. We urge Congresswoman Omar to clarify her words placing the US and Israel in the same category as Hamas and the Taliban.

This is not the first time Omar has faced backlash for her comments. Last week, Omar reportedly retweeted a video from the International Solidarity Movement (ISM), a radical anti-Israel group that the Israeli government accuses of supporting terrorists, Breitbart News reported.

In May, she accused Israel of terrorism “following deadly air strikes in the Gaza Strip after Hamas reportedly launched seven rockets at Jerusalem,” Fox News reported.
