Why not donate to Toledo where the university is located?

Donate to a village with funds to improve or donate to your home city? Did UT offer to Toledo and then was it declined to to lack of funds to improve? I can just see Toledo buying unused property (if it existed) in OH for city kids to practice upon. How would that have been received?

The property was actually derelict due to former green house glass demolished into the soil. This was an unknown finding during recent renovation that sent costs and delays soaring. OH paid dearly for the gift.

Go Rockets!

My opinion is that unless it is research to dollars or campus extension, facilities should be as close as possible. Isn't that land kind of far away to hope for highly trafficked non-golf athletic facilities?

People are probably paid a lot of money to come of with schemes when it comes to moving land out of a tax base and into development. Might have been the most efficient way to get the parcel UT wanted into their hands and the parcel OH wanted into their hands...

Ottawa Hills put in about $750,000 to build the athletic fields. OH is basically Toledo so it’s helping out the University’s city.

Basically but not really

But I get yr point

When I make statements they are more “ devil’s advocate “ arguments vs hard opinions but I still feel reversed situation would not have ever happened but it’s all ifs and what’s.

It was an unused field used for parking once per annum. Will they share their good fortune?

Go Rockets!!!

Always thought that selling the ten acre parcel on Dorr (at Richards?) was a big mistake. A perfect parcel in a great location that could house an indoor track or hockey facility. You won't find one like that again.

Yes, the earlier post referred to lands west of the Welltower buildings, but you are correct about the property across the other side of Dorr (north side) at Richards where the Village of Ottawa Hills is building a recreational sports complex.
