He said he was glad most people will eventually come around and the guy should thank those willing to wear masks and get the vaccine for his ability to be safe. First the science behind the development of the vaccine was the safest and passed the strictest of validation of any vaccine ever developed. Don't be fooled by the quicker development and release of our first two. It is recent discoveries and technology advancement that was able to make it happen. Our ability to catalog diseases and replicate the most meager of changes to variants is driven by technological advancements through the efforts of places like St Jude in Memphis (love we got a mention). He said how strange is it we celebrate medical advancement in almost all cases but suddenly politics gets thrown in and we hear individual rights says I don't have to get vaccinated. Maybe so but your emphasis on individual rights means you are asking others to make the world safe for you. (saw the use of coward earlier in the thread so it it a contrast the way this Dr. sees it). He said he was not necessarily advocating for a vaccine passport but how strange is it that if you get the vaccine and you get a card that shows you had it why would you manufacture reasons to not show it for the safety of others. To me (he said) it is another way of limited the ability of society to move forward when people choose to place their rights above the many. Yes here have been some bumps with the one shot doses. There have even been some deaths but even the one dose vaccine which was billed as less effective but still viable has had problems well below the typical vaccine for most diseases. They are investigating to see if it is an identifiable correlation and it will be corrected if so. He also said that politics had no bearing on how quickly scientist responded. IN fact thy were already working on millions of variants of many diseases so they are ready to respond to anything that comes out of 4-5 hotspots for generating pandemics. Covid wasn't the first and it won't be the last but we are getting better at identifying and attacking even the worst of threats. He did compliment President Trump for begging conversations with the pharm industry for responding to manufacturing and distributing. He just didn't finish the job before he left office for the next administration to take credit. A true missed opportunity.
Sure there are poorly constructed masks that are worthless but over all what we have seen is the common cold occurrences are significantly lower. Allergy occurrences are significantly lower. The Flu season was one of the lowest eve since we began recording. Sanitation, distancing and masks have proven throughout history to be deterrents for air or blood borne disease/pathogens. You have to go back to the dark ages to find much support for masks don't do any good arguments. The next segment was going to be on new cancer treatments.
I couldn't remain to hear the rest and I don't know where the guy was from. I won't argue with anyone on this. I'm just sharing so say what you will. Hope I did the good Dr. Justice in summarizing the interview.
Well, they need to change what they teach in med school, then. Because I know docs, nurses, pharmacists who don't trust the development time because they've been instructed over and over how long it takes to develop medicines.
FWIW my doc advised the vax and I've taken 1 dose so far. But it's not just neanderthal thinking to not trust the development time, when professors and docs have told you otherwise.
And my observation of the problem with masks is that COVID data is simply not correlating with mask usage. States without mask mandates and areas where they are simply not worn, are doing as well - sometimes better - than areas with the strictest mask mandates.
List the names of these doctors and nurses. I absolutely don’t believe you.
grow up
I'm not naming friends
But feel free to share your own name with us, since you're the tough guy
I’m sure you talk about vaccination all the time at your weekly intellectual round table with your large group of doctor, nurse, and pharmacist friends who are all anti Covid vaxxers.
PM me their names and I’ll happily PM you the names of Doctors that I know who were part of COVID trials.
Hell I’ll facilitate a call between them if you will bring your “doctor, nurse, and pharmacist” friends to talk about things. We don’t have to put a single name here, we can just mutually report back.
Oh but wait. I bet they “only feel comfortable taking to you.”
At best you exaggerate. In all likelihood you’re a liar.

According to the broadcast on Facebook, the crowd is great. All the way to the West End Zone.
Close to a record for a spring game, I would think
It's good, but nowhere near a record. I gotta pic from one of Fuentezz's spring games. I'll post it later when I get home.

Keep in mind, this is with NO alternate rows being blocked off due to the Wuhan flu.

RE: Spring game details
More observations about the Spring game.
The band.... If we are going to do something, we need to do it right. they sounded like a bad high school band. You can't do what they did in a 59,000 seat stadium. You have got to have the whole band there.
Radio..... How big of a deal would it be to actually broadcast the spring game on am600 like a regular season game? The reason I ask, people like my 77 year old dad would have liked to listen to the action. I see that it was shown on Facebook, but from what I can see, they are not showing the actual game, just the side of Wolo's head???? WTF? Seriously, if you were at the game tonight, go sometime soon and look up on Facebook and *try* to watch that ... that... IDK what to say. Wolo and Dave Coone talking, and MID-SENTENCE, they cut to the Jumbotron.
The crowd..... was DEAD...... DEAD. I guess it's just the customer base at this point. People that go to the spring game are there as arm-chair evaluators of talent? I'm guessing at big-time schools like Alabama and Florida State, etc., they are events to be seen at, and when the stadium is full - like, all the way around full - it is easier to get excited. Which brings me to my last point...
The stadium operations... If you are SO FREAKING WORRIED about Covid, why in the hell would you restrict the crowd to just one side? That has always seemed stupid to me, but this year it is especially stupid.
We've got some distance to go before we are "Big-Time"

RE: Spring game details
I attended the spring game in 2016, and I think it had more people than your picture shows from 2014, Geo.
I think 2016 may have been our best spring crowd, despite (or inspite of?) a rookie HC.

Playing music the entire game without the PA announcer announcing which players made certain plays was extremely annoying. It would also be nice to give out roster sheets.

Thank you for acknowledging that. We lost a great Tiger fan, my longtime boyfriend, William Joseph Craven, III, a Christian Brothers boy, a few days before his 55th birthday in 2020.
Let the others joke about Covid. I also lost a 24 year old cousin and a best friend, Minetry Crowley Apperson, to that heinous disease.

It was kind of hard to measure the crowd when they were telling folks to leave 1 and 2 seats between who you sit with.
The crowd was Big and say between 10,000 to 11,500 folks. Great crowd for our up and coming football program!

I will never understand why they don't have more concessions open at these things.
The beer line was so long. My buddy managed to get 3 beers twice but of course I drew Karen who would only sell me 2.

RE: Spring game details
barnett is much larger than carter
my first impression watching the team workout before the game
is how big the memphis team is getting to be
years ago, i saw fresno state in the liberty bowl
and most of their players were 6' 2" or taller
a couple years later, i saw long beach poly (high school)
play and was impressed at how big they were
i havent heard much talk about no. 91, austin mccready
punter from john curtis, but he was booming the punts
no. 12 brown would have scored at least 2 more touchdowns
if the plays had not been blown dead to protect the qb
he is really fast, he was the only qb wearing the helmet camera
