I am still curious if we see beach volleyball and/or bowling in the coming years.
It sounds like the Southland Bowling League (without a single Southland member in it - SFA & SHSU were founding members) will continue at least through 21-22.
The WAC has ACU, SFA, Grand Canyon in beach volleyball. I do suspect Sam Houston will add it at some point.

Can count NMSU out of adding Beach Volleyball. UNM dumped theirs a few years ago. If they don't have one, NMSU can't have one.

Independents out in the west include Boise State and San Jose State.
The three current WAC schools (GCU, ACU & SFA). Add in Boise State, San Jose State and get Sam Houston to start the sport... boom, six schools!
See, solving the world's problems...

Without a conference based qualification for the national tournament, there is no purpose in attempting to add members from all over to form a conference anyway. We already are meeting all minimums. We don't need any more sports, except probably mens track.

Adding men’s track potentially raises Title IX issues as schools will need to continue to balance scholarship opportunities for men and women. Few programs could add 12.6 men’s scholarships without creating a compliance issue. Maybe men’s track and beach volleyball.

Good lord, is Tarleton is still behind Chicago State lol. I didn’t think I’d EVER see anyone rank below Chicago State overall.

Updated Standings after adding Tennis (M & W) plus Women's Golf:
GCU = 57.5
SFA = 39.5
NMSU = 38.0
SHSU = 31
ACU = 26.5
CBU = 26.5
Seattle = 25.5
UVU = 25.5
Lamar = 24
UTRGV = 18.5
Tarleton = 16.5
DSU = 13.5
CSU = 13.5
GCU is very strong in the remaining 5 sports [Men's Golf; Softball, Baseball, Outdoor Track (M & W)] so it looks like they will win their 4th Commissioner's Cub in the last five years.

RE: Commissioners Cup standings
It mattered to NMSU when they had a realistic chance to win the Commissioner's Cup. But NMSU fails to participate in multiple (5) WAC sponsored sports, much like most of its WAC peers. However, GCU competes in all but one sport sponsored by the WAC... FCS football. GCU (and Seattle) accumulate points from every sport which gives them a distinct advantage to win the Commissioner's Cup each year. So, yes... the Commissioner's Cup ceased to matter to Aggie fans.
GCU obviously has the "money" to compete in every Olympic sport the WAC sponsors and don't have to bother with the gender equity issues that FCS football causes with 63 men's scholarships and balancing men's and women's sports.
But Hey! You're winning the Commissioner's Cup. Yippee!

Don't you guys get tired of playing the "money" card when it comes to GCU? In sports sponsored by both schools, GCU has a 43.5 to 38 point edge so far this school year. Last last school year, GCU finished with a 68 to 57 point edge in sports sponsored by both schools. Shame on GCU for not blowing up well-rounded and overall successful athletics program just for the chance to have a below-average football team who's only function is to collect losses and paychecks for the school. What are they thinking?

When GCU shows how much they pay their coach's. BTW, how's it going becoming top 25 in all sports sponsored?
Quote:"We're shooting for the stars," said Athletic Director Mike Vaught, who came to GCU in the fall with Division I experience, helping Southern Methodist University rise from the football ashes. "That's the way I've always been. Our vision for the program is exactly what I established on Day 1, to be top 25 in everything we do."

43.5-38 and 68-57 means NMSU had a chance if there were a level playing field. Who is saying for GCU to blow up programs or add football? I think there are several ways to tweak the Cup to try and level the playing field. What's wrong with that notion?

Oh, snap. GCU Athletics busted for having aspirational standards for its programs.
