In other threads, people were asking about what WAC team could leave to get the WAC down to 12 members. I didn't really want to comment on it because I am not a conference-realignment enthusiast. But CBU looks to be the best positioned to leave, if the opportunity arose. They are in a large metro. Great facilities. Appear to have some money in the coffers. Have been super successful in their short time at D1. They just check a lot of boxes.
GCU has the for-profit stigma. UVU is one of 7 D1 schools in Utah and was formerly a community college. Seattle has poor facilities and so-so success in sports. CBU was such a great addition to the WAC.

Wouldn't surprise me. The WAC keeps spinning their wheels on D2 schools who keep bolting. Dixie seems different. I hope. The trajectory of CBU is off the charts. It was barely 10 years ago they were NAIA, winning the all sports title. A quick rise through D2 where they were winning the all sports title. Wouldn't shock me to see them in the WCC.

I agree that CBU was a great match for both parties.

RE: Commissioners Cup standings
CBU falls behind GCU & UVU in cup standings after WVB is added. https://www.wacsports.com/commissionercup/2020-21
Based on remaining sports, it looks like GCU should take the cup. They are currently first in men's soccer, men's & women's tennis, and softball. If memory serves GCU has also been either first or second in track ever since they joined the WAC.
