Long reaches on a fielding error, Hughes sac bunts him to 2nd, Dunlap fouls out behind 3rd. Garibay grounds out.
End 5

RE: Rice baseball tournament
Leadoff infield single moves to 2nd on a wild pitch. Next batter walks. Garcia is visibly tiring, but the bullpen just started. Mound conference to stall for time. Next batter flies out to CF, runner held at 2nd. Then another fly out.
Two run double into the right corner makes it 4-1. Now Garcia comes out, Greenwood is in.
A team like K-State will cash in on an opportunity like that. Bullpen should have been up sooner, IMO.

I'm more than a little surprised and disappointed that Cruz isn't playing against a southpaw. He has hit lefties well in the past, and is off to a very good start at the plate this year. IMO, he deserves the start ahead of either Dunlap or Karp (we could move Edwards back to 2B where he belongs).

Garcia is living dangerously with his fastball. No strikeouts, but 12 fly outs to only 5 groundouts. For those watching or at the game, I'm assuming his velocity is off a bit-- has he topped 90?

Greenwood again? Geez, what is it going to take to get Bragga to give Wood, Janac, Linskey, Zaskoda and Davis more action. He keeps going back to Greenwood and DeLeon in critical, middle of the game situations.

He’s hitting 90, but I imagine a B12 team sees a pitcher or three a year that can do that.

Greenwood walks his first opponent, but strikes out the next one.

I don’t mind Greenwood in this spot.
If we had the lead, I wouldn’t like it... But down three runs, I’d rather save our “better” arms for a game where we have a good chance of winning (I.e NIU later on).

A question: Is Wood healthy? Only reason I can think of for his limited action.

Why is Edwards still in the cleanup spot? He's hitting just .250, has limited power, and strikes out a ton. Having Gneiting hitting behind him is insanity.

RE: Rice baseball tournament
So when do we get to see the gorilla ball that got Bragga hired?
4 hits - a solo shot and 3 spaced out singles thru 6 innings won’t get it done.

Bases loaded stranded again in B7.
As Walt has mentioned, our situational hitting is terrible.

We load the bases with one out....and get zilch.
Second time today we've loaded the bases. We've now left 10 on base.

Rice scores one in B8 (could've been much better given that we had guys on 1st and 2nd with no outs).
6-2 heading to the top of ninth.

Curveball was sharp but fastball wasn’t an out pitch. Touched 92 but sat 89
