RE: UCF HC Heupel to Tennessee
Hopefully with Tennessee pouring money into UCF someone strong arms a 4 game home and home out of them and UCF will have closed most of their scheduling holes.

I wonder if they will not simply promote Alex Golesh and give him a three-year deal (?).
The UC Offensive Coordinator?
Yes, and I was being serious.

this is better long term for UCF . one more double chin Heupel recruiting cycle and Dillon Gabriel possibly being an NFL prospect in a year would have set up the Program in a rough spot in 22-23

Cha ching - $24 million over the next 6 years (which is probably valuable considering it's going to take Tennessee some time to get out from the inevitable sanctions they just self-reported such as McDonald's bags full of money to recruits). I suppose reading between the lines, UT is covering half of his buyout, meaning he's going to have to cover the rest out of his own salary.
Or maybe they'll pay off the other half with a home and home?

If you guys want an up and comer, you should at least give our former DC Marcus Freeman a call. Doubt he would leave Notre Dame since he just got the job, but he would be a home run hire for any AAC school IMO.

Although not as bad as Strong, it was clear that he'd gotten the most out of Frost's players but had increasingly diminishing returns with his own.
Strong's 3 years at USF:
10-2
7-6
4-8 (and a completely depleted cupboard)
Heupel's 3 years at UCF:
12-1
10-3
6-4
His 2020 recruiting class ranked 7th in the AAC per 247, but what's striking is seeing where those recruits were from:
Georgia
Germany
California
Arizona
Kansas
Arkansas
New York
Virginia
2021 moved up to 4th in the AAC, but again with recruits from:
Arizona
Arkansas
Texas
Georgia (x 3)
North Carolina (x 2)
Germany
California (x2)
Virginia
Kentucky
New York
Mississippi
Only 4 recruits from the state of Florida! So I think Heupel was doing a helluva job of alienating Florida high school coaches, and as a USF fan you can bet I was stoked about the long term ramifications of that. This move is going to give a new coaching staff a chance to mend some fences.
All that I can hope is that it takes a while, and that some of the turnover/turmoil brings them tumbling down.
Charge down, MFers!

This is spot on. Heupel never hired coaches with Florida connections. Randy Shannon did and the defense was from Florida while the offense was not.

People talking bad about Randy Shannon have no idea what they are talking about.
He is connected with lots of HS coaches throughout the entire state of Florida.
Recruiting is about relationships. If assistants don't have good relationships with HS
coaches they will not sign successful recruiting classes. Recruiting is the blood line
of the program !!

So UCF fans, you think a certain UCF QB may jump in the transfer portal to go become orange with Heupel. Any chance of that?

He posted an angry Tweet towards Heupel. I would doubt it.

Yep. UCF's inconsistency with O'Leary and Heupel can be directly linked to lack of local recruiting connections. Both tried to recruit nationwide instead of down the street. Frost recruited locally and the program rebounded quickly. If the next coach does that, UCF is in the NY6 very soon.

I'm actually glad it happened. I feel like UCF can do so much better. Seems like a good guy but that offense is such a gimmick. Looks like y'all got the better end of the deal.
