This is their sixth hire in the past 13 years. The half-life of a Tennessee coach is two semesters and a summer session. No wonder they can't build anything.

Yeah but Tennessee $$$money$$$ is official (it has three money symbols around it) retire for life money, so the risk is minimal even if he crashes and burns and never gets another coaching job.

I put the odds at 80-20 that UCF comes out of this deal better than Tennessee. There should be a lot of talented coaches lined up who want the UCF job. Huepel just secured his retirement with $24 million. He will most likely get the last 2-3 years of that contract paid to him while he is on vacation.

Yeah well they kind of had no choice with the last guy.
They had to show him the door.

Tennessee has to beat Bama, Auburn, LSU, Texas A&M, UF, etc every year just to win their conference. UCF is in Florida, a better recruiting ground than Tennessee. Vols also are about to get hammered with sanctions and half their roster is transferring. UCF has a heisman caliber young QB and a team that’s talented enough to make a NY6 bowl.

If the end goal is a major Blue Blood job (USC) ,a job at UCF is an easier path to get there . Tennessee is the Southern version of Nebraska

Precisely. Not sure if Elliot will come here, but he showed a lot of interest last cycle (When we ended up with Heupel)

I've been saying the same thing since he was hired. It was Arena football like. The whole premise of his offense was to tire out the defense and keep the other guys from making changes. It felt gimicky to me too.

I agree. I don’t think they would have gotten any better than they were this year under Heupel.

I am really interested to see where they go from here. There are a lot of interesting candidates out there. You think Bill Clark may be good option? I feel like it would be tough to win at UAB and he does so consistently. I n fact, the last time they had a winning season before he arrived was 2004. And since he revived the program, he’s had a winning season every year. Imagine what he could do at UCF.

Again, Nebraska of the south. Hasn’t been to a major bowl since 1999, hasn’t even had a 10 win season since like 2008

An opportunity to upgrade.

What are your thoughts on Hugh Freeze?

Sorry, if he was discussed earlier and I missed it.

I was referring to Gabriel at the time I posted it and he has made his feelings clear. Not happy. Milton is already at FSU.
