Supposedly it was really close to being Lambert. The committed adjourned their meeting last night deadlocked.

I live in Lexington, and I get the Huntington hate.
But for a small town, Huntington has a lot to offer.
Besides, Huntington or location isn't what makes the Marshall job attractive. It's a proven commodity. Boca can't be beat for location, but FAU has a LONG way to go to achieve the kind of name recognition of Marshall.

You are talking to a FAU fan. I doubt they even go to home games, and definitely would not put money on them attending away games. At least we can change coaches and fix our attendance problems, FAU not so much. No matter how much they win, no one in Boca Raton cares.

Besides, I think Taggart is a good coach. Hopefully Huff can live up to his leader and recruiter status.
As I already posted, Alabama fans are pissed we nabbed Huff. The videos on him publicly display his charisma and leadership abilities.
Hopefully he can have autonomy and controll putting his staff together.

I’m not to get into a pissing match regarding attendance other than point out the vast entertainment options in Boca vs Huntington.
I think everyone agrees that Taggart is a heck of a recruiter and we added a new co OC this week that has a unbelievable recruiting record as well. Where the jury is out (at least for me) is the game day coaching, adjustments and decision making. Without a workable qb it’s hard to know where the problem was but it appears we are going to have that issue resolved behind most likely the best O line in CUSA so there shouldn’t be any excuses to move the ball.

I like the direction FAU is heading. It's gonna be tough for Marshall. We lost some good O-line talent this year, and it didn't seem the backups in place were the answer. Lost a couple key elements on D.
Our focus now needs to be hitting the right staff around Huff. We need a competent coaching staff who can mold Grant Wells properly.

Dusky, entertainment in Boca yes. But if you are an outdoorsman, like to hunt, fish, camp or hike, Huntington and the surrounding area is awesome.
Different strokes for different folks.
Additionally, as I am in the age range of Huff, I know nightlife means diddly squat to me. Most in that age range are family folk...

What Grant Wells needs most will not come from a coach...
it will have to come from, inside the Youngman.

You have a huge unknown in Huff as a head coach. I would like a few Ws against Marshall to start getting our record evened out but I do think Wells could be a serious threat if you bring in the right staff. Problem is Huff has never hired a staff and it’s late in the game at this point.

But he should have enough connection to put together a very experienced staff that will work for Marshall's budget...
with hope of getting big dollars and back to a P5 level in the next few years.
BP did that at Western and so did Brohm. I bet Willie is able to do just that at FAU. Good coaches but got let go at the P5 level and their only way back is working for less money and riding the back of a new coach

We have both. Some of the best nightlife (includes some of the best restaurants) in the country. Probably the best fishing in the country; offshore, inshore, flats and fresh and the hunting ( duck, deer and turkey) are within a couple hours.
It is getting way too crowded now though for me.

There are a few coaches I wouldn't mind keeping like Greg Adkins (OL), JC Price (DT) and Cornell Brown (DE). But overall I hope he gets to bring in who he wants. I know some may disagree with me but I think it would be detrimental to Huff if he kept Cramsey or Lambert. The players were advocating for both guys to take over, moreso Lambert. Leaving one or both there may cause a rift between some of those players and Huff.

The main problem for huff is that expectations for him are so high that if he doesnt win a CUSA championship by year 3 they will boot him.

Is that a problem though? What respectable coach doesn't think along those same lines?
Especially with Grant Wells in the fold, hell yes, he should have the team competing for a championship in three years.

No, I agree with you about Lambert. Cramsey is gone for sure. Lambert under normal conditions would be a great keep at D coordinator. However, would Marshall get a fully invested Lambert now? Absolutely not.
Additionally, it's time for a shakeup. The collapse last year showed me that a new voice is needed.
However, he won't stay regardless. Most often pride gets in the way.
