Let’s not overthink this too much. We won’t play again for 8 months. Our last game was a win. The coaches, players and us, the fans, are all happy. Let’s hope for a normal 2021 season. Merry Christmas Tiger football fans. We’ve all earned the satisfaction we’re feeling tonight. With me, it’s 11 pm’ it might be the Jim Beam.

With all we’ve been through, this was a great end. Tough season, but successful season. I was impressed tonight.

We’re losing a lot, but we’re bringing in plenty to fill those holes. I’m anxious to see how Silverfield handles that challenge. GREAT first season for Coach

I dont think we need to diminish the great things both Fuente and Norvell did for our program to lift Silverfield up.

They have now all made their marks.

It is simple for me. Before the year if you asked me if I would take 8-3 with a bowl win and without Gainwell and Coxie from our first year head coach. I would have signed up for that all day! There were some really ugly games but the end result is a really fantastic season and I am very pleased with how the season went in totality!

RE: Silverfield does what Norvell could not and what Fuente did once
I'm so proud of this team, their coaches, and our head coach in his first year. I am also proud of our administration who had to reinvent football nearly every game. They all worked their way through players with Covid, family members sick and dead with Covid, players opting our suddenly, cancelled games, cancelled practices, lack of fans in the stadium, no Tiger Walk or Tiger Lane, and half our fanbase who ridiculed their civil rights BLM stand and their helmet stickers.

I think Brady did a damn good job of leading this team, as did our coach. I am thrilled and proud tonight. And I look forward to next year and a more "normal" atmosphere. GO TIGERS!!!!!

Nice to see the losing streak end. I look forward to seeing how things go now that Brady is moving on.

All said the team was tough in close games

Lost at SMU on last play

But came back from 2 TDs in the fourth against both UCF and USF
And after losing a big lead didn’t pout and beat Houston on last play
Let alone Navy game which needed big late plays

Tough minded. Yes, the Cincy game was a bad effort but after what, 5 straight over them, several by big margins, they were good and destined to get one back. The Tulane game was really the only Turkey based on score and opponent

QB play will matter but we will still have as talented a roster as anyone in conference next year, suspect another good one

Tulane won't be running Norvell's offense next year. Will Hall now coaching Southern Miss.
So they should go back to being the door mats we know and love.

Despite going 8-3, we haven't played well all season long. Add that with losing the majority of the following players: Goodson, Carter, White, Dykes, Lindsey, Russell, Francis, Patterson, Pickens, Orona-Lopez, and Dorceus, this team is going to lose some quality players. Hopefully, this coaching staff can develop players over the offseason.

Think about what you said.
We didn't play well all year long. Still finished 8-3.
STILL the best team in Tennessee.
If UT had went 8-3, they wouldn't be talking about about Pruitt's job status.

It wasn't all that long ago that 8-3 would have been a dream season for us.
If we had finished 3-8...we'd be talking about how soon we can hire Chip Long, or Kenny Dillingham.

Wait, did we or did we not win a post season game last night for the first time in our last 7 bowl appearances and for the first time in Brady White's career?

But...but...but...they are not P5, we didn't score enough points, we barely beat USF, we were sloppy against Navy, it's not excuse that we didn't have Gainwell or Coxie or lost 89% of our offense...it's ALL on the coach.

And the stickers!!!

Yes.
At the start of the season, I feared we might not finish at .500.
Given the crazy environment this season, I think just about every losing coach in the country deserves a Mulligan for this year. Conversely, every winning coach (like ours) deserves a ton of praise.

Chip Long came with Norvell from Arizona State and was our OC. He literally ran Norvells offense. Their true frosh qb is for real.

I think that given these & other significant personnel losses, it shows without question how important QB play is to the success of the team. BW was a consistent QB that came up big most times late in games that resulted in many wins for Memphis over 3 seasons. Silverfield has a real challenge to have that same or better QB play next season & beyond. Recruiting looks very promising but until someone actually lines up at the QB in real games & makes it happen, we won't know if we are looking at a .500 year or another ranked bowl team.

Bowl games / bowl preparation appear to be a strength of Coach RS. Our Tigers were ready and well prepared for that cotton bowl game against a monster opponent in Penn State.
