Keep in mind Georgia Tech this year has lost this year to both Georgia State and Mercer. There's two teams in Georgia better than they are and that's not even counting the Bulldogs!

Kentucky is going to be the Penn State of basketball this year. Good thing they play in a mid major conference, they might still win it.

Get your shots in on Kentucky now while you can. There is a lot of talent on that team. I dont know how many five star players they have but Im sure its more than most programs. Once those kids learn to play with each other, they will be a lot better at the end of the season. Meanwhile, its a great resume builder for GT. Calipari is not a bad coach.

I've watched Kentucky basketball all of my life, not as a Kentucky fan, but as an SEC fan. I have never seen a Kentucky team that is so complete a wreck as this one. They absolutely stunk! The can't pass, can't play defense, and had no sense of continuity on the court, just five inexperienced kids running wild. Georgia Tech looked good compared next to them and we know they are not.

A Kentucky team that sucks as bad as this one is surely a sign of the end times! At least for Wildcat fans. And likely for Calipari.

That's the flip side of one-and-done. When it works then it really works. But when it doesn't and you wind up with a group of athletes who need work to even hope to find a competitive team out of them then you get this current Kentucky team.

Saw an article saying the last time a ranked team had lost by double digits to two unranked schools (UK lost by 12 to Richmond earlier) was Memphis-when Calipari was coach and the GT coach Pastner was his assistant.

And yet UK only lost by 3 to Kansas just before that.

Is Kansas any good? They lost to the only good team they have played.

And barely beat North Dakota State.

I don’t think this will be the kind if year where anyone can be taken too seriously. It’s simply too hard to plan and play in this setting. And that’s fine, imo, but stuff like the ranking data is going to be a sloppy mess and hopefully not well considered.

It's probably not different than this football season. You'll have more upsets than normal. In football you had LSU, Penn State, and Michigan have horrible seasons and Oklahoma a poor season by their standards (at least early on).

Right, more of a sight test. But I don’t see full abandonment. The data is going to be all over the place, though. CBB metrics sure love the SOS, but that is going to be a troublesome thing when teams don’t play a consistent number of games, or even have much or any of a non-conference component.

Fort Hays was missing 3 of their better players, their head coach, & #1 assistant.

Fort Hays was 0-3 with losses to Emporia St, Nebraska-Kearney, & the Washburn Ichabods.

Penn St. 75 - (15) Virginia Tech 55

And the Big Ten spanked the ACC tonight except for one game. Either the ACC is way down or the Big Ten is WAY up. Let's see what happens on Wednesday.

Carver is back at it again tonight with a game vs the Citadel. They also will have Georgia Southern, Georgia St, and Troy before the month is out. They only lost to Charleston Southern last night 94-59. They had Nicholls St, but that was cancelled. I wonder how much they get for each of these games?

Carver is taking the role of Athletes in Action from back in the day, except they were preseason games and AIA teams occasionally won.

I found it commendable that Carver could break the 40-line. Some of those games, they just stalled out and couldn’t score. Even down the stretch when teams get into foul trouble and you get garbage points against the depths of the bench. At least they could continuously hit shots to a better degree than their previous efforts.

And, really, they’ve been outdone in terms of beatdowns and scoring droughts. They likely won’t get pounded by over 100, but it may get close. And their lack of scoring isn’t as embarrassing as the Cleveland State effort the other night.

Carver scores over 50 tonight and loses by 51 to Citadel. But, again...took them over 15 minutes to crack ten points. A similar issue with Adrian College and their 95-35 loss to EMU. It took Adrian about 14 minutes to get over the ten-spot.

I get the feeling the Carver roster comprises a bunch of Bill Dazzles.

On the women’s side, NAIA #1 Westmont forced UC Irvine into overtime before succumbing.

So far, UCLA, Washington, Cal, and Oregon State have been featured in the Laughable Scores section on the losing end from the Pathetic 12. Could we get the entire conference in here in non conference play before New Year's? Maybe the conference should take a lesson from Duke and just cancel their non conference games and save the embarrassment.

How many more losses before Bill Walton stops saying "Conference of Champions?"

Arizona should have been on here with that performance against EWU. I don't know if Utah were to lose to BYU that being really laughable. I see USC has San Francisco on its slate next week. That one's going to be interesting.
