Northwestern 79, Michigan State 65

You lose to the conference geeks, you're not winning the conference.

Georgia Southern 119
Carver 43

Score of the combined games: 211-70.

The Major difference I see between Carver and Greenville is that Greenville presses 5 players the entre game long. They have decent shooters, but against a stronger, faster, team they can not keep up. Carver, they are just bad. I wonder how Carver would do against Cleveland St?

Yeah, against some of the true dreck of D1, I wonder. Like Fordham, Denver, Columbia, and Chicago State. I doubt Carver wins any of those, but, could they be closer than 30+ points? Maybe within 10-20?

Carver's hilarity tour came to an end the other night against Troy. 0-17 with a combined score of all contests: 1711-717 for an average score of about 101-42.

Could have been worse.

I am not sure what is more impressive, that scoreline or the face that they played 17 games. My alma matter NMSU just played its 3rd (and it was a disaster). So as much as we have poked fun at Carver, props to them for being able to play 17 games before the new year.

Yeah, one of their non-D1 games they got thumped by about 70 I saw. This could literally be the worst of all time.

WOW. What’s the issue with this team? Lost players to Covid? Using all walk ons? No coach? I’ve never heard of anything like this.

Actually besides Chicago St that recent year, I do remember something like this with BYU basketball back in the 90’s...a bunch of guys quit or were forced out for their honor code deal or whatever. Anyway they actually brought on several guys from the BYU football team to play basketball. They may not have won a game that year. Wish someone on here could tell that story...

You might be thinking of Baylor.

At 60 total students, I don’t think they have much of anything for a team. It’s sad that they’re outmatched no matter what level they play, even within their own.

Texas 84, Kansas 59. And this was in Lawrence!

Anyone willing to predict Kansas won't win the Big 12 regular season this year?

Man if Kentucky doesn't win the SEC regular season and Kansas doesn't win the Big 12 regular season in the same year the world will end!

Tack on if North Carolina, Duke, or Louisville don’t win the ACC.

Ever heard of Virginia? They're only the most recent team to win the national championship.

Kansas could lose a number of games at home this year without many fans. Their homecourt is tough. Take away the fans, and they are more mortal.

Butler 70, Creighton 66

If you're not following basketball this season it doesn't look laughable. But Butler is 4-7 and ranked 167 in the NET while Creighton is 10-3, ranked 17 in the NET, 8th in the AP, and 6th in the coaches. Once we get into mostly conference play you don't get those mid major over P5 upsets these days so I got to find something for this column. It's also a victory for the East of the Mississippi over the Western crap. If #167 from the East side can beat #17 from the West, we know which side is superior in men's basketball overall. Yeah I know the top two teams are on the West. Wait until the NCAA Tournament when they actually have to play Eastern teams. There have been 20 NCAA Tournaments this millennium. The number of them won by a team west of the Mississippi? ONE.

It wasn't laughable, but I saw Minnesota beat up a highly-touted Michigan team today. Very impressive win for the Gophers.

Weber State 124, Yellowstone Christian 44

I don't like to point out these obvious mismatch games which teams really shouldn't be playing. I just find it amusing there actually is a Yellowstone Christian. Do they have a college in the park? Do they shower in Old Faithful?
