Did Marshall turn down a game with BYU?
This is circulating heavy right now on Twitter. A couple podcasts and insiders are claiming BYU offered and Marshall refused. I’ve yet to hear anything from anyone close to Marshall, that worries me. If this proves to be true ...

If thats the case Marshall has no one to blame but themselves fot going undefeated and not even in the question for a NYD6 Bowl. Right now Marshall has played one of the worse and THE WORSE schedule of any undefeated or 1 loss G5 school

Hey a$$wipe how is it MU fault? Three games have been Postponed / Cancelled this year. I'm still expecting at least one more before everything is done.
Charlette, don't call it a "Postponement", too late in the season, it's canceled. If anything has let down MU it is this ****** conference. Would not shock
me if we are not done. FIU or Rice one will fall to the "Virus", probably FIU. Would / and Would not surprise me if both games fall giving us over a month off.
If we can schedule BYU on the 5th. Do it and drop the Rice game. If Judy does not like it tell her to go change her mascara.

Key words in bold.

NO reason to believe it is true and every reason to believe it is not true.

The very definition of Fake News.

Well, not as brave as the school who cancelled their season over the flu.

Anyways, I wouldn’t have signed a deal for a one and done with BYU unless it was in Huntington. My guess would be, if true, BYU wanted us to go there with no offer of a return game and no big money game payout.

Even if we went and beat BYU, we would still need Cincinnati to lose. Not as much to be gained by playing them as some think. If we go there and lose, then Cincinnati loses, we be kicking ourselves for taking a low paying one and done.

Nothing is as simple as it seems.

Why? It's not about NY6. It's about getting a better bowl. People in Huntington seemto be obsessed with a return game. I guess when you have nothing better to look forward to locally , that's all you can hope for. It's about getting a short term TV rev. and a better bowl game in the future. Right now, we are on a course with a Sunbelt team in MB. We need some help to get anything better. IMO MB Bowl is selling us short.

And no CC is not that good of team. If we end up there it's going to be 2014 against NIU all over again.

Twitter? Really guys?

the only factual evidence any one of us can point to is the quote from Doc Holliday in the article thread, and that points to Doc Holliday showing that they wanted to play the game. There's no evidence to show that they turn this down.

For what date would such a game have been proposed?

That's why I asked for sources.

The way I see it. We win out we go to MB, We lose a game go to MB.
The only way to have any hope of a better bowl is a game against a good opponent. Only hope.

There are no “better bowls” to be had in CUSA. What better bowl did we get in 2014 when we were ranked and 12-1? You either make the NY6 or play in Boca, or another league tie in. That’s our lot. All bowls have tie ins, with everyone eligible this year some SEC-Big 10 bowl isn’t going to kick Georgia out so we can play Iowa or anything like that.

The return games are about revenue. You either pay us $1.5MM plus or you come to Huntington so we can have a 32,000 plus attendance game and make money that way. Plus it builds cred to have name programs at home and gives you a better chance to win.

We went to Boca in 2014 against NI because that's what ESPN wanted. If I remember right when it game to lower bowls the viewership was not that bad.

Now when it comes to Tie-In's 2017 So.Miss vs Fla. State; Independence Bowl. We didn't have a tie-in there. Sure enough So. Miss went there.
We have a max of 1 or 2 games before Bowl Season. If we don't help our own destiny we will be stuck with mediocracy that pays 500k and no
bump for next years Week 1 Top 25.

Well, my guess is that FIU will cancel our game next week, so hopefully something that is beneficial happens for the team.

So you didn't say that right? You did not say:

MU has no one to blame but themselves "fot" going undefeated and not even in the question for a NYD6 Bowl.

Exactly, worst schedule playing crappy teams like WKU. In a crappy conference.
