With a likely record of 1-4 if the Owls do get to play the two remaining, currently scheduled games - @Marshall and UAB at home (so basically a neutral field game for UAB). 03-banghead

More Covid shaming.

Are you saying that 69/70/75 was shaming people, that Barney was shaming people, or both?

Not sure why 69/70/75 feels the need to keep bringing this up outside The Quad.

Delay Championship game till everyone can complete the schedule and play a delayed Championship?
Put an asterisk on the season and give everybody participation trophies?

The first option is really the only choice, if you assume the pre-Xmas bowl games (of which I believe CUSA has 3 or 4 of those games) get played relatively on time. Not sure it’s fair to teams that actually managed their schedule well to simply delay or cancel the conference championship

I saw The Roost post that 35% of CUSA games have been postponed / canceled through this weekend, with the amount of games played in a given weekend drastically reduced from the beginning of September.

If my comment was aimed at Numbers, it would have followed Numbers’ comment. Barney’s snarky comment was aimed specifically at Numbers, and I called him on it.

And I believe Numbers is a “doctor”.

Numbers is more than capable of defending himself, so you should direct your last question to him if you really want an answer.

Maybe if Rice athletics is looking for some income, they can get ahold of the San Francisco 49ers and offer up Rice Stadium as a venue for their next two home games (since they apparently can't play games in Santa Clara County over the next 3 weeks)?

Something tells me though that if Rice Athletics wanted to do that, the campus administration would quickly nix the plan.

Somehow, 166 miles west of HRS, the Texas State Bobcats played their 12th game of the season, falling to ranked Coastal Carolina and finishing their season at 2-10. Attendance was listed as 3245 on a miserable day in central Texas.

Just noticed former Owl Hunter Henry playing on the Kansas State first team defense (at least right now) against Baylor.

They lost. We didn't. So we got that going for us.

Stanford and San Jose State will have those same issues as well

True, but they’ve also won twice as many games as the Owls.

Of course, it took TX St 4 times as many games as the Owls have played to get those 2 wins.

I’m just amazed they found a way to play 12 games before Dec. in 2020.

Gloom can’t buy a break that dark cloud continues to be over his head. Would be great if he could get a fresh start....as a position coach somewhere else!

RE: Rice vs UTEP
Just listened to Bloom's post-cancellation presser. These are the most important things I noticed:
  • We have no players in isolation or otherwise limited by COVID protocols. All the issues were on UTEP.
  • Bill Clark (UAB) and Bloom are in agreement to move our game to Dec 5, but it's the conference's decision that we play Marshall that day. UAB hasn't played since Halloween, and they have no other games scheduled this year besides us on 12-12.

What are the chances that all of our seniors return next year. I can't imagine very good.

Well interestingly, I hear that we have several times a day from the nurse practitioner that works next to me in our urgent care facility. She actually went to school and worked at the TMC for several years so she has ties to Houston. She also worked for many years in Fresno before moving to the Monterey Peninsula.

She says, and I quote, "We all have lost our minds over COVID". Even heard it today 12 minutes into the shift.

Anecdotes are fun!

My OBGYN wife, my Adult Congenital Heart Disease cardiologist former Rice roommate, my pediatric solid tumor oncologist former Rice roommate, another oncologist that I knew at Rice, my father-in-law pathologist, an allergist/immunologist who is a friend, and many others disagree with the “we have lost our minds over Covid” take. In fact, one of the oncologist has posted a few videos begging people to take it more seriously because he had multiple immunity-compromised patients get sick and die from Covid from others who did not wear masks.

LET THE ANECTDOTES RAIN DOWN UPON US LIKE FIRE!

Well, it is actually an opinion of a licensed medical provider. I guess your medical cohort are more learned than my cohort of providers.
