There may be some significant personnel changes based on possible injuries...just rumors right now but they would be HUGE if accurate.

It is an absolute abomination but that is the world of 2020 where your word and loyalty means nothing.

But this is also an indictment of Rice's approach to athletics....

Good post, and you're right. If all the basketball talent had stuck around, we would've at least been in the NIT twice by now.. Think of what that could've done for a program like Rice's. Pera is a good coach, but he's always rebuilding.

Likely to be a very wet day at Rice Stadium today. It's rained pretty much all night, and the radar looks like it may rain all day today too.

<sarcasm>The weather could greatly impact today's attendance.

As per Rice Athletics “ The start of today’s game between Rice and UTEP, originally scheduled for noon, has been delayed pending a second round of testing on participants. Further information will be released when available.”

Incredibly stupid. First off, I think we’re the only school who tests the night before. The rapid tests can give false positives, so what are we accomplishing testing again right now?

Has there been a single case linked to spread during a game?

I would assume that testing again would then provide another data point as to if a positive was false or true

Just sit the person out then. My guess is someone for UTEP tested positive at our last minute testing and their staff said “screw you” since it’s not required by the conference and they had followed protocol. Pure speculation. But I’m not sure why else you would delay a game 2 hours before kickoff if you just had a couple people out. Teams have been dealing with that all season.

Leebron once again proven to be a clown. Both delaying the start of the season and having special tests the night before a game.

We as a nation have gone stark raving mad over COVID. I sincerely hope we come to our senses at some point, but the chances are starting to look dimmer.

If the University doesn’t want to play football this year, or any year, just say so, and we can all move on.

Meanwhile, the countdown to kickoff clock on RiceOwls.com continues to count down. To what, I’m not sure, but t’s less than 30 minutes away.

Update:
And just like that, the clock is gone. I guess somebody’s reading the Parliament?

David is already at the stadium and reports that at this point they rescheduled the kick off to 2 PM. Possibly.
