They said in post game that he wasn’t available, but didn’t say why or for how long.
I may have missed him but was Lucious dresssed out?

Does anyone know that we have our own Turnover Chain?
That big dollar bill the team was holding up at the game with Coach Clark on it.

I may be super behind here, but what is going on with our jerseys? How come we don't have the dragon scales on the shoulders or the names on the back??

Who was #41? Looked like an OL for power blocking sets. I know he jumped offsides 2 times.

on the bright side. The D still did awesome and Special teams showed out.
Even though WKU was depleted from last year, this should give the team some confidence going into Friday.

2020 recruit Maleak Bryant is still on the team and plays some on special teams.
We also signed a 3* TE out of high school in the 19 class in Jarius Thomas. He's longer on the roster though. You can draw your own conclusions but I'll point out that he was listed as a 6'4 220 pound TE when we recruited him but was listed as 6'2 185 on our roster last season.

Bryant did play tight end on the last possession yesterday when we had all reserves in on offense. He hasn't played much there, and I think he is at least fourth on the depth chart.
And #41---I wondered who that was too--he played a good bit as a blocking TE. I guess if it's Jacoby Jones, as was mentioned by someone else, they gave him that number so he would be an eligible receiver to play tight end.

Well, whoever 41 is, he had a couple of false start penalties as I recall.

Just catching up on the game thread. I would've hoped for better, but to me attendance is basically an irrelevant metric this season. Too many people concerned with getting out and people are accustomed to everywhere being limited capacity. Plus the fan experience is greatly diminished with no tailgating, Blazer Village, wearing a mask, switching seats, etc. No one in the country is looking at attendance numbers this year.
On recruiting, I do wonder why our classes haven't been more at the top of the league with our success, new football facility, great school, and location. That's not to say we haven't gotten some studs like McBride or Malachi Bennett in the 2021 class, but just wondering why we haven't seen more of that. Maybe it's LF holding us back still? Or CUSA in general? Clark is obviously great at doing more with less and is getting good enough players to win the West division each year. I'd like to see us take a step up in recruiting though. Maybe that comes when we're playing in the new stadium and recruits come see how nice it is and how our gameday environment is better.

UAB was given the death penalty. You do not recover from that overnight. It took SMU twenty years to recover from theirs. We had the advantage of the NCAA giving us some very special recruiting advantages and being in one of the worst divisions in college football. Clark has done an amazing job but I do believe most UAB fans do not understand the kind of recruiting damage the shut down has done. Clark understood we needed to win big and win fast on the return. He loaded up on transfers and JUCO's to accomplish that. We are still feeling the effects of such top heavy classes. Not a lot of top CUSA level recruits were chomping at the bit to come to UAB after we were shut down. With all that has happened since with facilities, the stadium, and success on the filed the issues that hurt recruiting should no longer be an issue. I still think we are a couple of years away from being fully recovered. After next season if the recruiting is still subpar than its a coaching issue.

RE: ***Game Thread*** WKU
Recruiting has been good but not great. The interesting trend is that with respect to the recruiting service rankings, for what they are worth, most (not all) of our higher rated recruits have either underperformed or simply have not seen the field much (prime examples being our two highest rated players on the team, a WR and a LB). Conversely, some of our lowest rated signees have proved to be our best players, with some examples on the current team of Spencer Brown, Kris Moll and Brontae Harris. We could easily name 5 more, including Noah Wilder. Earlier teams included Garrett Marino, perhaps the lowest rated of all our scholarshipped signees since the return. So, many recruiting ratings are usually a wild guess or sometimes a marketing tool as we all know
One of the few exceptions to this trend has been Jordan Smith. He came in as a former 4 star high school recruit, and has lived up to it.
A position where Im particularly fascinated by recruiting ratings vs results is linebacker, particularly on the inside. It seems that each year we sign a well regarded player there (Johnston, Rayam, Conner) but they rarely see the field vs our walkons or low rated recruits. Two of these guys are still young but none seem to have bloomed, and we are still playing two walk-ons ahead of all of them. Im also surprised that Jarrion Street isnt playing much, nor Oliver of late. injuries?
The transfer LB from LSU looks talented but hasnt yet seemed to establish a clear role for himself in the rotation.
