NCAA Football : Conference Series Records : Sun Belt vs. Conference USA If you scroll down to "by decade", the results speak for themselves.

You have a little ways to go to get over the hump against the MWC, however. Win percentage over the past 5 years has been 40%, 44%, 40%, 33%, 33%.

That could be debated.

MWC has had a better OOC win percentage over the past few years compared to the Sun Belt... but the MWC plays weaker OOC schedules than the SBC, and it's really not even close.

They are playing the Oregon States and Colorados of the world. Meanwhile the SBC is mostly playing SEC and Big 12 competition down here.

Over the past few seasons, the SBC has more quality P5 wins than the MWC. Troy beating #18 LSU (who finished 9-4), Georgia State beating Tennessee (who finished 8-5), App State beating UNC (who finished 7-6), and even Louisiana beating #23 Iowa State if you want to include that.

The MWC only has one win over a P5 team with more than 7 wins over the past few seasons (SDSU beating #20 Stanford, who finished (9-5). Most of their P5 wins have come against the cellar dwellars of the Pac-12, which even the AAC has proven isn't very hard to beat since you're 6-1 against them over the past 4 seasons.

Right, but what I posted is the head to head between the MWC and Sun Belt. Technically, you are right, MWC has a weaker SOS when playing the SBC than the SBC does playing the MWC....because head to head.

Didn't Arkansas State lose by 2 TD's to Memphis, before beating KSU? How good a win is defeating Kansas State then.

Wouldn't pretty much any of our teams have beaten Kansas and by a lot. What am I missing here. Kansas has been abysmal for years (decades?).

Louisana over Iowa State is an OK win. If you actually believe Iowa State is that good. I mean I know they went 7-6 last year, but I mean they were a 500 team basically. It's a decent win I will give them some credit for that one.

Would anyone anywhere have blinked an eye if the AAC had defeated 3 poor to mediocre B12 teams? For some reason I don't think so. Am I wrong. What world beaters were defeated. Did someone walk into Texas or Oklahoma and get a win? I mean Navy beat Kansas State in a bowl last year and ended up losing by 50 to BYU. Is that really impressive to beat them?

Where are these great wins. AAC teams regularly beat much better opponents year in and year out.

What am I missing. I see 3 OK wins over 3 run of the mill B12 teams that any of our top teams would have beaten easily. Did anyone anywhere really care nationally that Navy beat Kansas State. No, it was a run of the mill story.

What you're missing is the perception. The perception that the Sun Belt of 2020 is still the Sun Belt of 2001. The perception that App's conference schedule and one loss to a rival was enough to disqualify them from NY6 running, despite defeating UNC and USC; mind you UNC was a 2 point conversion away from beating Clemson and USC beat Georgia.

There is this perception that the MWC, C-USA, and MAC are still years ahead of the Sun Belt, at least from the National Media and that pervades the general college football fandom consensus. What changed this past weekend was the recognition that the Sun Belt of 2020 is different from 2001 and 2013 and has surpassed C-USA and the MAC; though statistics shows that this actually happened in 2016.

So you can say the AAC does the annually and it's true. But the Sun Belt is currently competing to wipe the perception of being the lowest of the low and Saturday was the first time that many in the National Media actually were forced to acknowledge it.

Pecking order actually would be AAC, Sun Belt/MWC, MAC/C-USA, respectively. If we are considering G5 conferences in name alone, that is the reality but hasn't been the perception.

Louisiana went 11-3 in 2019 and guess who two of their losses were to? App State. The other was to Mississippi State in Week 1 which saw typical Week 1 mistakes dog them down. Truth be told, Louisiana should've finished ranked last year which likely would have given App a better shot at overcoming the perception gap of the quality of their season.

Memphis lost to Penn State pretty soundly to close out 2019. In 2018 App had No. 9 Penn State down, in Happy Valley, 38-31 with 50 seconds left after being down 24-10 at one point in the 2nd half.

Louisiana losing to a 6-7 Miss St. team at home is why they weren't ranked.

You do realize Penn State was better in 2019 right. App and Memphis's performances against different Penn St. teams says absolutely nothing about anything.
