Talk about a facepalm post.
Maybe you somehow missed this, but there is a little story in the Bible about a man called Noah where God once flooded and destroyed the ENTIRE PLANET in judgment. And you are seriously trying to argue the Bible does not say God is in total control of the weather and uses natural disasters as judgment? Have you never heard of the plagues of Egypt, the story of Johan and the storm He sent or His judgment of Nineveh? Have you not read the COUNTLESS verses of God warning people of Him sending storms, disasters, droughts, earthquakes, and every other natural disaster in judgement? Have you not read Jesus' words about the natural disaster and weather at the end of days?
Both the OT and NT are very clear about the fact that disasters and death exists in the world for one single reason...... God's judgment due to our fall and sin. Without his judgment for our sin, there is not ONE SINGLE DEATH or disaster in the world.
You REALLY need to not talk about whats in the Bible because you clearly are out of your depth here. God openly talks about his total control over the weather from one end of the Bible to the other and all points in between. I can fill up the thread with hundreds of verses of Him warning nations and people that He is sovereign over the weather and He is the one who brings the rains and withholds the rains and brings death, disaster and judgement over the whole earth. Just at it is Him alone who brings blessings and peace. None of it is random or chance.
You don't believe in the Bible, fine. But if you are seriously going to argue the Bible does not say these things you are making a spectacular fool of yourself.
You started off by saying you believe the current wildfires were
specifically because of the godless West Coast progressive. I'd love to hear your reasoning for all of the other natural disasters and why the people of their regions deserved them.
Then you said: "YES,
all natural disasters are a from of judgment"
Not some, not a few, not a majority, but ALL natural disasters are because of judgement from God. The Bible does not say that all natural disasters are because of
judgement from God.
Simply citing Sodom and Gomorrah and other calamity stories doesn't mean any time a disaster happens it is because God is pouring on his wrath or judgement. There are multiple famines and disasters mentioned in the Bible with God having nothing to do with any of them.
We can disagree on nearly anything pertaining to the Bible because it is heavily up for interpretation. And obviously the easy fall back is to just point to Adam and Eve and original sin as you can sort of use that as an argument for anything, but I don't think the Bible implies all disasters are out of God's judgement.
But my understanding of it is because God allows natural disaster to happen. That doesn't mean every singular specific disaster is because God is judging such and such group of people. Natural disasters just happen in an imperfect world. Jesus has implied that people who die in a disaster were often in the wrong place at the wrong time. I.e. chance
There is randomness. God gave man free will and the ability to choose. Bad things happen to good people and good things happen to bad people, at least relative to our own moral compasses. Not everything is a predetermined path and not everything has a reason behind it. Otherwise there would be no such thing as free will. I think people preach that so they can try to get through life when the truly difficult times happen psychologically, and that is okay, but it's just not reality.
Trying to pinpoint why a natural disaster happened or placing blame becomes a dangerous game. Anyone can say anything for any reason. I could just as well say, "God is punishing us with these wildfires, hurricanes, and a nationwide pandemic for electing a morally bankrupt man in Donald Trump to the Presidency " People see what they want to see. Doesn't mean it's right.
Enough ranting from me on this subject though.
