To me it's akin to a police officer having to protect a known criminal because even that criminal has certain rights. It's a fundamental ideal when you live in a society bound by the rule of law.
They kneel because it causes people to talk. If people just didn't care they'd eventually have nothing to kneel about.
I'm a Navy vet. Those people have every right to kneel. The rest of us have every right to react negatively to it.
IMO, they are not helping their cause, especially when they ignore all the other black lives that are lost which don't fit their narrative. And even more so by the message being conflated with an org that wants to destroy America.
Yes, they have the right to do all that. But IMO, it's not helping. It's just more divisive.

Another way to put it. Why do you have to disrespect me, my flag, my country and my anthem to make your point? Figure out a better way.
Oh, and instead of multi-millionaires spending their time virtue signaling, why not put some money into helping the families who are harmed by abusive cops, or put money into better police training programs?

I got one. How about instead of busting your ass off to become a millionaire NFL player so you can "GET OUT OF YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD AND MOVE INTO A GATED 'WHITE NEIGHBORHOOD' you go back to your neighborhood you worked so hard to leave and do something to make it better so all of the young kids there that look up to you have a better life?

Looks like last nights game will be down 3 million from last year's Packers-Bears game.

Sports Media Watch predicted a 12.9 yesterday. Packers-Bears got a 12.8 last year.

Nobody really argues with the general premise of equality for all. But what's frustrating to people who just want to be fair:
1. All these players are protesting social justice in a country where they are all multi-millionaires for playing a game.
2. The original impetus was George Floyd's death. Terrible, but cops kill more unarmed white men each year than blacks. Whites are a much larger % of the population, but blacks commit a much larger % of the crimes.
It just seems like a lopsided reason to campaign for an overarching cause that, in protests, often veers from the original message, which is not really an honest one to start with.
And then there's the whole BLM org issue, them being Marxists and wanting to bring down America.
3. Sports was the one area in life you were able to escape and forget all the usual BS. Now politics and social justice are in your face.
I'm quickly losing interest. Already gave up on the NBA. Getting close on the NFL, down to just my team only.
Perfectly stated. Perfectly.

Pretty much a blow out at the beginning of the 4th quarter 7-31. Not surprised at the low rating at the last part of the game.

Given that the sports faucet has been turned to a drizzle for months now, one would think the ratings last night would have blown through the roof.

Shows that ratings are still dependent on big/traditional markets

RE: A big thumbs up to...
I guess Americans can live without football if the millionaires playing the game are going to patronize them.
Screw them and their unity. I haven’t seen one Seattle Seahawk, Minnesota Viking or Chicago Bear denounce the BLM rioting and looting in their cities.
Don’t tell me that I need to know Black Lives Matter when more Blacks kill each other and more Blacks kill Whites then Whites or Police killing Blacks. The whole BLM narrative is a crock of sh*t.
Black Lives are apparently only supposed to matter to the Police and anyone else that isn’t Black.

I absolutely hate the idea of politicizing sports.
That said, I’ve made the point many times that the players are largely intelligent college educated men. There is no reason for them to follow Colin Kapernick as he runs off a cliff. Kap’s idea for a protest angers half of America. If his purpose really is to build support and unity for the movement—-then Kaps idea isn’t a great way to do it because it’s too divisive. The players don’t have to protest by kneeling just because Kap decided that would be the best way to do it.
I’ve said the players need to come with an alternative that, at the very least—doesn’t come off as spitting on the graves of fallen soldiers. The alternative they chose is a significant improvement over Kaps idea in my opinion. Frankly, I think they need to take the politics out of the game. I watch football for entertainment and as an escape. I don’t want the players preaching to me about politics any more than a player wants to listen to a cash register attendant cram his political opinions down the players throats while they are buying groceries at Kroger. If the player wants to get political—save it for the interview room or have yourself a tirade on Twitter. The game isnt the place.
