My opinion -- I don't see how it would be possible to have a spring season, unless it would be like some exhibition games. The big boys are playing, and ODU is sitting it out. The more important question is what happens to the player eligibilities, and how will that impact the incoming class and roster (scholarships)?

Only way spring season is possible is if CUSA gives us the boot and we join the CAA.

Players are not gonna lose a year of eligibility. They are gonna have temporarily increase the scholly limit, I suppose.
There is a spring practice session. Use it as a 4-5 game exhibition season instead. Let potentil draft picks opt out and prepare for the draft.

And not all the big boys are playing now. If the Big10 and PAC play, there’s some big names. The bigger question is who would we play? I assume the MW and MAC teams would play conference games. Since our conference plays now, I guess our only choices might be UConn and UMass along with FCS schools.

I'm fairly ignorant about the COVID situation in the 757, but I wonder if Broderick and WS expected more CUSA schools to follow our lead and sit out the season. It might have ultimately been a gamble that backfired... who knows?
If we do play in the spring I think we would have to either beg the MAC to tag along, or just play a few games against a smattering of FCS teams and maybe UMASS and UCONN.

Navy looked awful vs BYU last night but after hearing how they ran covid related practices I understand why now.
Maybe it turns out to be a great advantage we're not playing this fall, it gives our new coaches more time to adjust the program to their likening.

Certainly possible. Our new staff missed so much practice time to implement their changes in the spring and summer, that they would have been rushing to get the team ready in time. It also gives them time to bring in more of their own guys that fit their mold.

I honestly think they withdrew when they did because it was apparent that the other schools were opting to play and ODU had already decided not to play. Maybe they hoped other teams would follow before the league made its final decision. But I think if it was apparent the league would decide not to play they would have waited for the league to announce it.

That makes sense. Ultimately, we'll find out in 2-3 months if not playing was the right call.
If we somehow do play in the spring I think it'll be similar to an exhibition season.
