Can someone please clue me in? I have doubts as to whether ODU football can survive this. This is one sad state of affairs.....
Its posted in an article on here.

We are under different Restrictions than other CUSA teams. We couldnt practice with more than 50 players (and coaches) at a time. The players were uneasy about playing. The administration felt it was in the best interest of the student athletes after speaking with them.
The rest of the conference is rolling the iron dice. Our administration did not feel comfortable making that wager. I personally agree with their decision, especially if we can get a (shortened) spring season.
I'd love a full explanation about the financial impact of playing vs not playing. Watched a little of the games this weekend and kept wondering how much is playing costing these schools (MT, USM, Marshall, UAB). THe UAB game was on ESPN. Do they get some TV revenue no one else does? is the extra $ divided within the conference? Since we're not playing, do we forgo all TV revenue? Bottom line, how much $$ are the schools making vs losing by playing. How is ODU making debt service on new stadium? Lots of questions.
Ask your Virginia Governor who set draconian rules for our region of the state. If you don't like it let him know, maybe in November.

There will be no spring season. Who would we play. You think they are going to throw together a schedule against a bunch of PAC 12 and Mountain West schools in the spring, because they are the only ones not playing Fall or winter.

We could play the MAC, UMass and UConn. Assuming the Big10 doesn't play OOC games. The bigger question though, seems to be if there is a spring season, it is for conferences that didnt play. Our conference played, so would we even be eligible to participate?

The gubernatorial election ain't til 2021, my dude.

Also, he literally cannot run for reelection until 2025.

But yeah, sure.
I don't believe the players didn't want to play. They're football players....they always want to play. And why is our area being treated different? Did the administration even ask?

1. Yeah, no. There were opt-outs from our team, from what I understand. Others were poised to do the same.

2. Between Memorial Day and the 4th, the percent positive shot up in HR. Northam warned that he would take action, then when nothing changed, he did. And he generally followed the recommendations of VB Mayor Bobby Dyer. Links to articles are in another thread.

3. Which administration, Northam's or ODU's? My takeaway from the WaPo OpEd is that ODU did reach out and receive feedback from athletes.
This administration is done. Broderick is retiring and lil Woody will be replaced. Lost all confidence with the folks.

HUGE MISTAKE...should have been playing football. No tailgating, only families or players and staff in attendance and games televised. ODU could have sold advertising and used other mechanism to generate revenue. The State and University Admin. failed us miserably. They are very soft and honestly can't think out of the box. There was a lot of $ to be made even with no fans in the stadium.

For the first time in 50 years one party runs both houses of the legislature and the executive.
Checks and balances have a way of curtailing power, dude.

Looks like Rice may join us.

How would families even be allowed in? The capacity is 50 people.

Yeah. Wonder why Selig didn't see that.
I hope this football season disaster is the final reason the G5s need to regionalize.

JMU's ultra conservative, lie offering, CAA supporting, conference squatting admin can't ignore a G5 regional shift without being run out of town.

Regionalize now, if ODU will/has to thanks to the gov or whatever reason sit out a CUSA football season, rock the boat at CUSA member meetings pushing for regional lines.
We are more likely to get kicked out of the conference than this spur any kind of regional realignment (which is impossible since there is only 1 non-P5 FBS school in our region anyway). Getting kicked out may not be the worst thing long term, however.

Do anything you want with us – roas' us, hang us, skin us, drown us – but please, Br'er Fox, don't make us stay in dat CUSA brier-patch.
