Outback bowl against 4-5 Ole Miss.
Ouch.
Outback Bowl is a premier bowl game. Great result for a team that didn't beat anyone with a winning record.
Playing Devil's Advocate, the average casual football fan is clueless with respects to how good or bad these schools are. All they see is Outback Bowl and two P5 teams. In their mind it is a legitimate bowl. OTOH, if the game included two 9-1 G5 teams Pravda, err.. ESPN would tell the casual fans this game sucks and the masses would believe it.

Northwestern got Auburn in the Citrus bowl.
That right there is kick in the teeth enough for them.
It would have been nice if IU could have gotten a win in a better bowl so they would be ranked when we go in there and whip their a** next season.

EDIT: I realized he is counting Louisville's 2013 Sugar Bowl appearance against Florida.

If Boise State becomes a reality, that becomes 7/8...which seems to be enough for me, especially when you get to feed the P5 the ability to undercut 1/3rd of the FBS completely, which seems to be what they want.

Sauce selected as a 1st team all-american by usa today. Really cool! No idea how this guy slipped through the cracks.. really shows that the number of stars isn't everything in recruiting

Absolutely great news for Sauce! And of course for the Bearcat program. Hopefully we have an AA or two each year or at least most years on a go forward basis

It speaks volumes about our coaches' ability to not be "star struck" and discern talent regardless of ratings. It's a high complement to Fickell and his staff and it's why we're seeing continuous improvement each year on the field. I don't think our program is anywhere near its ceiling yet.

Sauce is on his way to being a program defining player IMO. High quality DBs, especially those with a significant track record of high level production, go early and often in the NFL Draft. He could very easily be our first 1st Round pick in the modern draft era next year (unless some of the mocks that have Myjai going in the 1st this year are accurate). I would imagine a jersey ceremony or at the very least a big time honorarium somewhere in the Lindner Complex would be in the future for him.
Looking at the way our program is going, along with our talent identification and development, I do t think it's at all a farfetched idea to have yearly members in the AA lists moving forward. Hell, if Ridder comes back next year I think he'd be on the preseason Heisman hype train.

I'm not super familiar with the award, is he Cincinnati's first ever First team All-american?

I believe Huber was twice and Ruffin was once when he won the Groza. Mickelson was a 2nd-Teamer, and I don't recall anyone else on '08 or '09 being on the AA lists.
Sauce may well be our first position player unless Peek got it and I'm forgetting.

Linebacker Mike Woods was First Team All-American in 1977. He was even on the old Bob Hope All-American Special (for the younger posters, comedian Bob Hope used to host a variety show where he would introduce the players).

Memphis playing FAU in the Montgomery Bowl right now. Hopefully the Tigers can put the AAC in the win column tonight.

Good. We need our conference to be strong top to bottom. This helps our SOS and conference "eye test" LOL.

Didn’t mean to exclude SMU. I agree the Pony’s are in the conversation. I think UCF and Temple are crashing; Houston is going to have a ceiling as long as Dana H. is there; Tulsa is going to have to restock the shelves; and USF still seems to have a way to go to repeat what they did back in 2016-2018.
