Please, for the love of God, no COVID statistics or COVID banter in this thread. I'm so burnt out on that stuff. College football's opening week is here baby! Man that sounds soooo good. Here is the television schedule for games this week...

Thursday, Sept. 3
Central Arkansas at UAB | 8 p.m. | ESPN3
South Alabama at Southern Miss | 9 p.m. | CBSSN

Saturday, Sept. 5
Eastern Kentucky at Marshall | 1 p.m. | ESPN
Middle Tennessee at Army | 1:30 p.m. | CBSSN
SMU at Texas State | 4:30 p.m. | ESPN
UL Monroe at Troy | 7 p.m. | ESPN3
Houston Baptist at North Texas | 7:30 p.m. | ESPN3
Arkansas State at Memphis | 8 p.m. | ESPN
Stephen F. Austin at UTEP | 9 p.m. | ESPN3

Monday, Sept. 7
BYU at Navy | 8 p.m. | ESPN
Damn it feels good to see that.. many never thought we'd make it to this point. Gotta love college football season. This season is going to be funky but AAC still needs to build on the previous 3 seasons. Started with multiple teams ranked pre-season and we can't have any of the bad out of conference losses. Pulling for SMU and Memphis wins this week!

...and yes, can we please have a single thread without the COVID stats and negativity.

Agree on all points. I'll only add that I hope ESPN gives the American a hand up this season; there's no reason not to. The conference is giving them good inventory of ranked and winning teams in major markets at a much lower price point than many of the originally scheduled games. And they have a marketable storyline that could develop regarding the CFP if UC or UCF rolls along undefeated until the CCG.

It's odd to look that schedule and be very much looking forward to watching the Memphis and SMU games. That BYU/Navy game feels like the super bowl at this point!

sounds like UCF has 10 players opting out.. massive blow to them. Tay Gowan is their starting CB, Mack is obviously the backup QB, Kalia Davis is the starting DT, and Lamarius Benson is a backup offensive lineman.
The APU is going to be broadcasted on ESPN at noon.

Thanks for sitting the season out B10, PAC12 and other conferences.

I know right? I even signed up for Hulu, Disney+ and ESPN+ bundle for $12.99/month just in case.

Still the right call. My guess is we will be contractually obligated to have a few games on ESPN+, just like we did CBS Sports Net.

My God, an ESPN slot for an FCS team? That's awesome.

Will there be remote tailgating? Do I need to download an APP?
There is another big Memphis opt-out for this year:

TOM III, their tiger mascot won't show up for games this year.

Also, the AAC media poll is out:

I'm guessing the poll was done before the ten UCF players opted out.
UAB vs FCS Central Arkansas. Yep, I'm watching it. Feels good to see college football on tv again. Also good to see a smattering of fans in the stadium.

Does UAB know this is an FCS squad?

UAB 28
UCA 21
3Q
Have any of our players opted out yet? You would have to think the pollsters would knock UCF down a few pegs.
UAB 45 UCA 35

USA 32 USM 21

Those snapshots bring back soaking memories of our Birmingham Bowl in Legion Field. I can almost feel the water soaking in my shoes again, rivulets that formed small streams and ponds in the ancient concrete, and those wet aluminum bleachers.

It was a great win to cap the season but I hope to never visit that stadium again. And better days are ahead for UAB I'm sure when its new stadium opens.

I believe that none have and they don't think any plan to.

If players are not high on the depth chart will they save their red shirt year by opting out this season. I guess if you red shirt you can practice but you can't if you opt out.
