I nominate Hyper. Very level-headed, fair, active on this board, and overly qualified.

I think hburg is doing great to be honest.

Deez is one of the best guys on the board and would do a fine job if hburg felt he needed help.

RE: Moderator nomination thread
H’burg is a great guy. I think we could use an additional moderator as he is not present enough to go solo. There are times when things go to far and there are too many OT personal squabbles. We have lost a lot of posters over the years because of this. I run into folks who are big fans of JMU and when we discuss our boards the common statement is “they are hard to read”.

There are plenty who I think would be great if they're up for it. Hyper, Dukester, Deez to name a few. Seems like Deez and Dukester are the most popular nominations, those two along with hburg seems like a great group to me.

Whoa lots of love for Deez Nuts. Make Dukes Domain great again! I'll start working on my campaign staff. Might conduct a listening tour to see #whyDeezNuts. We will monitor this situation.

bjk3047, purple should be non starters. Nominating either is just stirring the pot.

Just wanted to pop in and say thank you for your consideration.04-cheers

Even if I do spend 99% of my time on the boards as a lurker these days.

Agree completely, this is the issue. Sports threads here shouldn't turn into personal or political war zones like has happened recently. There are other forums for that.

I'd like to see these criteria in any new moderator:
- hasn't "picked sides" in recent flame wars
- tries to keep the peace rather than provoking others
- allows reasonable debate on JMU topics, differing viewpoints have value, this forum shouldn't be locked down like the facebook group.

A pro-admin or pro-fbs or pro-CAA for life agenda beats a sanctimonious rehash of the major news network’s agenda any day.

hburg isn't going anywhere, this is just to nominate additional mods.

Actually, I have reconsidered. A ticket of Deez, with 2Buck as his veep gets my vote. Heck, I would volunteer for the cause, raise money, put out signs, register voters for the The Dukes’ Domain and everything.

Thanks. Guess I should pay more attention to the issues in the world and what’s going on.

RE: Moderator nomination thread
A more appropriate question is: do we need MORE moderators? For a board this active, one main moderator just isn't going to catch everything.
I don't think hburg has done anything wrong and doesn't deserve to lose moderator. However, I do think this board needs at least another moderator (or two). It just doesn't seem fair to put all of the moderating up to one person. Hburg has better things to do than to make sure we aren't being morons to one another all day long.
I appreciate the fact that for the most part things are left alone. Unfortunately it also means that at times the boards can be pretty hard to read and want to read. I say that in the most general sense. We could talk about our favorite snack food and it can go overboard.
I do want to add one more thing: we are a passionate base. Disclaimer: I'm not calling anyone out as I think we have all been guilty of this at one time or another. There are going to be times where our opinions are going to be vastly different from one another. Can we try just a little bit to be less of a dick to one another? I'm not saying to pour on the saccharine and be a good little boy/girl. Perhaps when someone comes out with a different opinion, not have the first inclination be to throw insults or opt for the lowest common denominator. That would go a long way into fixing a lot of the problems.

Sorry I should have already mentioned: no thank you for this role. I don’t maintain the necessary decorum whether it be insisting on real science or insisting on calling Jim Miller a complete drunk low-life, I do not have what it takes.

Or how about we just adopt a strict no politics policy outside of the OT forum? I'd certainly make the argument that would drastically reduce / virtually eliminate the vast majority 'readability issues.'
