Why must you be such an angry young man
When your future looks quite bright to me
How can there be such a sinister plan
That could hide such a lamb, such a caring young man
You're fooling yourself if you don't believe it

Without waivers we got, what? 1 JUCO and 1 walk on coming in?

Lead recruiter says buh bye.

Concerning at this point.

Is that the same lead recruiter who recruited "the coaches son and a kid ranked 133rd?" If so, its no big loss.

Hire away Cade Cunningham’s older brother from OSU to fill the spot?

Nah, that was a poster named TOGC slamming the Penny hire.

His comments were directed at Penny.

I speculated earlier that might have something to do with Miller leaving. We'll see what his "always a Tiger" means.

RE: Mike Miller: Boom Out of Here
As I have always said, it boils down to results. Even if he was a bad coach who underachieved, he still went to the tournament his 2nd year, 4 years in a row, won 2 games; and the year he didn't, his RPI was 56. So for all the criticism; much of it warranted, the bottom line is that his first 5 years weren't bad at all. They stand up against Cal, Tubby and Penny so far.

2014 was the killer. If Black stays or Pellom isn't injured, we are a Sweet 16 team. After that it was over.

How many kids do you know who's parent's are multimillionaires want to stay home for college? How many of the average kids at Houston High School want to stay home for college?

That's easy. I don't know many multi millionaires personally, whether they do or don't have kids. But if I was a 5 start BB recruit, if want to go where I had the best chance to succeed at the next level - home or away.

This is true. Hell, if Taggert had stayed we would likely have been a tournament team Pastner's first year and probably advanced.

But neither did stay and the results are what they are. It's been a decade + and counting since that last S16 appearance.

At some point, the program becomes what its record says it is over a long period of time. That time is approaching for Memphis basketball

I though last year would break the drought and be the start of another good run. It wasn't. Not sure what happens this year but I don't see this team as much of a threat to advance to the S16 - without Nolley and Williams it looks like a bubble team at best to me. Really does seem to depend on who gets to play and who doesn't.

We could’ve gone on a good run, the games weren’t played.

Or if our 4 senior guards had any chemistry. Or if our 2 stud freshmen wings, Kuran and Nick King had been allowed to play. Or if our McDonalds All American power forward had played consistently.

All those problems, plus Tarik Black leaving, were coaching problems.

And much of those games were really not that much fun to watch. I think that the aforementioned 2014 team was one of the most frustrating teams to watch that I can remember. There were spurts of games that were fun to watch: the 2014 Louisville game, the last 6 minutes of the Xavier game, the last 8 minutes of the 2014 Gonzaga game, the 2011 CUSA championship game (the UTEP fans were really nice and knowledgeable). But there were a lot of duds characterized by inconsistent effort and selfish play.

Last year's team never quit, they played hard, they played hard on defense, and they played unselfishly. Do I hate our offense, yes; were all of our turnovers frustrating, yes. But I enjoyed watching them more than all 7 Pastner seasons.

End of Cal was a downward trend all the way to the end of Pastner...

Tubby maintained the level of the program where Pastner left it...Penny has also maintained the level...Hopefully we begin trending back up this year.

The point is Pastner took a program with a ton of good press and wasted it.
