I'll bet more Memphis fans know who Tony Harris is than UTK fans. I also know the plains of Kansas have already forgotten all about Dedric. Playing for your hometown Tigers gives you recognition and even celebrity here for the rest of your life, which ends up meaning a lot both emotionally and financially.
Uhh....no.
Sounds pretty accurate to me.
With what part do you disagree?

Looks like recruiting strategies are certainly changing. Penny has avoided recruiting Lawsons until now.
Not a fan of how the family conducts itself. But if Penny is good with it, I am too.

Not really. Chandler is the only other one since Penny has been the coach. And with Precious and DJ there wasn’t a need or spot for him. Jonathon is a different animal. Big guard and that’s what Penny likes.

Keith Easterwood used to say it all the time when talking about the Lawsons.
True but he was like in Jr. High. As of now he has the lowest recruiting rank of all 4.

Hey, I love Penny. It would take a TON of bad sh-t to happen for me to stop loving Penny.
But , come on yall.
Some of you have so much 'trust' in Penny. Have you forgot J Wiseman? It is a complicated saga. And yes, we do not get treated by that joke institution the NCAA in the same manner they treat blue blood athletic programs. But, some blame has to fall on Penny. He did pay the cash to wiseman. Of course, he knew that he put Wiseman's 'amateur basketball player status' in great jeopardy by doing that.
I am just saying I choose not to have blind faith/trust in Penny's recruiting etc. at this time.
Go tigers!

fascinating --
“I have no problem with the University of Memphis,” Keelon said. If my son sees fit to (go to Memphis), I’m going to support him.”
Keelon went on to say his real problem was with Tom Bowen, the former athletic director, who “just sit up and lied and didn’t do what he said.” But this isn’t a moment to pile on Bowen, either. The point is, the acrimony is gone.

KJ tried to come back.

I heard him say it on the gp show when we were recruiting Dedric.
He has the same problem as Chandler and KJ. Length and skill there for certain but he has the speed and lateral quickness of a poor man's Tom Brady and wants to be a guard.

Didn’t have room for KJ.

Hard pass on anyone named Lawson. Family of meddlers. Give me a Precious, Lester, Boogie, etc. I have no idea who any of their family members are. That’s the way it should be.
I’m not against getting Memphis kids. I’m against getting Memphis kids with family members who constantly go on radio and social media to be heard.

You're about 20 years to late for that. But it was nice when the team just suited and up started playing each season and all we knew is the players name and where they were from.

Sometimes coaches just offer players out of respect for them or their family. Not saying that is the case here. Really don’t know how hard we will push for Jonathon. Hopefully it all works out for the best.

Tubby is gone now, thank goodness, and won't be coming back no matter how much you want him to.

Normally I would 100% be against it, but with players being able to transfer without sitting out, you might have a certain edge with local players. They might be more hesitant to leave home. Either way, it's a tough call.
