Why would you take on huge student loans while facing a potential depression
Not that I disagree, but, what would a college drop out (or someone who opted out not going) do instead of going to school? Go work the fields in CA? They need workers. No, that's not going to happen.
That is what keeps people from Mexico and other locations coming to the US. To do the jobs no one else wants to do because it is hard work. I guess they can live with mommy and daddy for the next 10 years. (sarcasm, Trump failed to mention he was being sarcastic :-))
What future does someone have? Is it better to be in debt for a long time, or limit your lifetime earning potential? What is the job perspective going to be in 3-5 years anyway. no knows what that looks like.
I just want college sports to start back up. How am I supposed to plan my vacations (1st world problem) if I don't know where NIU is going to play next season. (of course, that is assuming there is a next season) Since I moved to NV late last year, many things have changed.
I feel sorry for kids these days. Things are nothing like they were when we grew up 30+ years ago. But, I can pin point why things have changed so much. I blame the 90's and the educational shift to "everyone is a winner. There are no losers. Everyone gets a ribbon. Just participating is great. "
This country has lost its competitive nature as a whole. The desire to win drives change. Our educational system has failed us. Only one can be a winner. In times of crisis like what we are facing now, the country should be coming together to overcome this crisis. But, leadership (or lack of any) has failed to unite us in this crisis. One of the things that makes this country strong, is the power it has when it is fighting a common cause. Well, that is not happening due to the leadership that was elected. The challenge, is will we ever, in the history of this country, see a leader who can overcome this system that is out of control and not, be on the take.
Kids should go to school, there is nothing else to do anyway. Be smart about what major you choose. Focus on paying your debt back before you get the new car, fancy apartment...... and save, save save. That is not what kids do, only because they are not being trained to save for a rainy day. Well, its pouring outside and they have nothing to buy an umbrella.
OK rant over. Sorry for going on about this crap. Monitor, feel free to delete this if you want. sorry for the rant.
