Yep, apparently a whole lot of knuckleheads thought it'd be a good idea to go the beach this past weekend. Apparently that was the tipping point. Beaches are now closed.

If I read the order correctly, not a whole lot changed. Folks can still exercise/run, etc on the beach but no more large gatherings. Everything that was "essential" yesterday is still "essential" today. So, not much change for folks that have been staying at home anyway. I guess the order allows for a misdemeanor charge to be issued if folks don't abide.

Here in Colorado the ski areas closed early for the season a few weeks ago. This past week and over the weekend, hundreds of folks were driving up to Loveland Pass near Arapahoe Basin ski area, illegally parking their cars along the highway and gathering in groups to ski. Hundreds of vehicles. Same at a few other mountain passes. Governor ordered the State Patrol to enforce the no parking along the highway and had all media outlets air the story that these gatherings were against the orders of the state government's mandates. Next day - same thing. Here's a clue for the leaders: Just start towing EVERY damn one of the illegally parked cars and folks will get the message.

Some people just won't go along with what we are told will slow the spread of this virus.

You have absolutely no proof of that what so ever. Some people just refuse to live in fear. There will be a large number of people that will never go into a crowd again. That number will be in the millions, if not tens of millions and it will absolutely negatively affect this country for generations. Illnesses will never go away and if we put a meter on every one that comes down the pike everyone will go crazy. Mental illness will explode in coming months and years. The cases of Schizophrenia and OCD will be out of control due to this.

I refuse to live in fear. I absolutely would not venture into a large crowd right NOW without a hazmat suit on. LOL

But after the pandemic is stopped, I really don't believe that MOST rational people will refuse to go into a crowd again. Once the fear mongering stops, most of us will reflect that pathogens are all around us, have been since the beginning of time and most of us have immunity from most of them except those that mutate all the time and kill every year, like flu.

The colors refer to when the lockdowns were first put in place - the darker the color, the earlier the lockdown. Obviously a lot of places with no color still have a lot of restrictions in place - just no official lockdown request by the local government I guess. Las Vegas for instance isn't colored in but the casinos there have been closed for two weeks already, which pretty much shuts down that city anyway (Clark County currently with 23 Covid 19 deaths).

Nobody is complying. There is nothing they can do. Shutting down the economy for nothing. Instead of going to the beach outside where the virus isn't going to spread much, they are at Walmart or hanging at the neighbor's house.

According to the Wikipedia page I linked to, the only states not on lockdown are Alabama (although others have said a few cities are in that state), Arkansas, Iowa, Nebraska, Nevada (stupid - they need it), North Dakota and South Dakota. Partial or regional lockdowns exist in Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, Missouri, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Utah and Wyoming. Advisories (not sure what the difference between an advisory and a full or partial shutdown is) are in Kentucky, Massachusetts and Tennessee.

Texas officially (unofficially) joins the full state lockdown on Thursday.
