Conversation in Tunica. OMFG
Pray tell what wise life choices did you make to bring you to such a lofty and esteemed dead end joint like Tunica?
TWIT-/character-really---I bet I was a TIGER fan before you were sucking on zwiebacks. I am a MEMPHIS TIGER fan period----a PENNY fan I am. You dont know me O HOLIER THAN THOU ONE---who are you to judge me. THIS IS A FAN MESSAGE BOARD WHERE PEOPLE COME TO TALK TIGERS.
Not that it is any of your business me being in Tunica----but its the best/only poker room in area---and thats what I do.
I doubt your a tiger fan. I bet you don't have season tickets to any sport. I think you trolled this thread to contribute to the anti Penny noise. I'll look you up at the conference tourney, buy you a beer and apologize for all of this; if your there. But you won't be. Cause you aint a fan your a troll.
I don't know why that I feel compelled to reply---but I shall.
I was born and reared in MEMPHIS---grew up in the NUTBUSH area and attended Kingsbury. I became a MEMPHIS STATE fan in the late 60's around age 10 . I used to listen to the games on the radio with my dad. Every now and then --I suppose when he had a little extra money, we would actually go to a game.
In the early 70's, when I was in junior high---Larry Finch--Doug McKinney--and Bill Laurie would come to Kingsbury and work with--and sort of mess around with us young teenagers . As a youngster that was quite a thrill. They did it pretty often for a while.
Later on in time, I started watching the BB replays on channel 10--Al Brown and Matt Dillon did the games. I hoped that somehow I could avoid hearing the score so it would be like watching it live. The great memories of watching some of our greatest players in our storied history. Players like Deadeye Dexter--Billy the Kid--Marion the elevator---Tree--Bradley--Isbell--the little general--OJ --Hank McDowell--John Gunn---I could go on and on and on.
As an older teen I got a break and got lucky. A man named Charles Owen(s)--heard that I was a huge TIGER fan and offered me a job ushering at the BB and FB games. I got my buddy on also. We would point people toward their seats. At the FB games we got to sit down after the 1st quarter ---BB at the 10 minute mark of 1st half . We got in free---and could enjoy the games. It was a big deal to us at the time. I was a member of the Highland 100 and the Rebounders club.
In the early 80's I moved to Hardeman County where I still reside--to the City where the most underrated Tiger of all time played High School ball---The LATE GREAT BEAUTIFUL BOBBY PARKS. I stopped ushering and being members of the clubs. I bought season tickets from time to time. I got in a profession that required me to work away from home a lot in other areas of the country . When I was away from home working--(before the internet)--when the TIGERS played I called home and my wife would turn on the radio to BIG JACK--Paul HARTLEGE-and George PLASTER ?--she would lay the phone by the radio and I listened to the game. I would work 2-3 weeks and then come home for 2-3 weeks .When I came home--me and the wife and kids would go to games sometimes. For the last 10-15 years I now work part time consulting (basically March--August)--I make sure I am back for kickoff.
Along comes Grandchildren . We have attended games for years. They all call the Tenn Vols the COMMUNISTS and the color orange the COMMUNIST color. As they have got older--they now call me before each season and ask what games we are gonna try to attend. The last time I bought season tickets for the family (kids and grandkids) was Fuente's last year.
Back in the day we have attended many away games. I have been blessed to watch many games from the press box and court side . But you are correct I wont be attending the Conference Trny.
So if not having season tickets since Fuente and not attending the conference trny makes me a troll---then I guess I am. In defense of people without the funds to do such things---I say you are still great fans.
As for you buying me a beer. I try not to drink with your ilk--judgemental types--but thanks anyway. But to us both I say go TIGERS and PENNY.
