Notre Dame doesn't sell out any more? I thought they had a 40+ year sell out streak going.

The school decided doing the ticket promotions necessary to inflate the sales to generate a sellout wasn't worth it.

Their sell-out streak came to an end last season. Even VT game attendance was "only" 77,622...

Exclamation RE: 2019 FB Attendance by %Full Stadium
BTW, I ran the math and it turns out that Kaplony is right - going to 9 conference games would end up costing Clemson a lot of money in years when they only got 6 home games instead of 7. You guys probably hate me saying that, but I'm just reporting the numbers... you have to have attendance less than 85% capacity AND the prospect of selling out all 6 home games to make up for the lost 7th game.

----------

OTOH, I'm pretty sure NC State could improve revenue with a little better scheduling...

TBH, plenty of "paper tigers" among that list.

You do remember that we took out bleachers and put in 22" seat back chairs through out the entire stadium. It reduced out seating capacity almost 20% (63,000 down to 51,000).

ND Stadium reduced its seating capacity to 77,622 as part of the $450 million renovation done in 2017.

It used to be 80,795 so that % is higher.

I was well aware of that fact when I said what I did. I'm still skeptical.

Here are both the attendance and capacity numbers as reported through the NCAA:

Rank School_______ AvgAtt StdCap %Full
7 N Carolina.... 50,500 50,500 100.00
11 Clemson....... 80,868 81,500 99.22
16 NC State...... 56,466 57,600 98.03
27 Notre Dame.... 76,288 80,795 94.42
35 Va Tech....... 58,293 65,632 88.82
39 Syracuse...... 42,164 49,057 85.95
41 Wake Forest... 26,999 31,500 85.71

If we use 77,622 as the new capacity for Notre Dame stadium, it was 98% full.
Likewise, UNC makes a little more sense at 99% (50,500/51,000)... but still...

I presume the turnstile math was done in some of those infamously rigorous African American Studies classes.

Unless seating capacity is increased to about 65K, there is nothing to be gained by more P-5 opponents. If the crowd will watch a dog when all the tickets are sold, you aren't gaining much.

Except a few million dollars in revenue that you could direct towards making at least one of the two money sports not be the perfect example of mediocrity.

No. They are as fraudulent as their academic standards.

I'm not surprised by UNC numbers given the reduced capacity and the Mack Brown effect.

I agree with NC State scheduling. They could definitely generate more revenue with better scheduling.
