Some of you posters are on the pathetic side in my opinion, and you can say the same about me because frankly I could care less. You live to bash and be malcontents. This team tries but the lack of a guard that is consistent is what kills us, it's not all coaching because he has us in a position to win but the players lacking is a problem.

Coach didn't miss free throws, did the UConn players hitting free throws have anything to do with Coach Hurley, no, the individual players hit them. My fault with coach this game was his sticking with Alo. but the problem with subbing him for DB is that DB at this time in his career makes horrible decisions with the ball in his hands. Coach was dealt a blow or blows this season. Honestly, I hope that he resigns after this season so that you malcontents can start up on a new coach if he doesn't win big in his 1st year. I realize that it simply doesn't matter what the truth is, you are Hypnotized by your hatred for Coach that no matter what all you can see is fault. a person can follow your post through out this thread to see your enjoyment at things not going well, or you came on late to do no more than criticize and bash. But you're fans, that is as long as we're winning. Its getting to the point that this board is no longer enjoyable to look at.

Coaches and players just need to keep developing in preparation for making a run in the conference tournament.

That is the ONLY way this team gets in the tournament.

You are correct.

Precious is hustling like a mofo on every possession...he just needs to make a pass when he's triple-teamed. I know he feels like he has to carry the load, but he seems to be pressing a bit too much at times on the offensive end.

He needs to give the ball to the guards and quit trying to bring the ball up the court.

And stop puttin it on the floor in the lane. Learn how to post up and if your guards aren't feeding you then the coach should put them all the way at the end of the pine.

I agree with that.

Our guards - or at least two of them - lack fundamentals that should have been learned 4 years ago.

I agree with that.

Instead he continues to reward them with extended minutes and giving them a green light to... to do something, but it isn't to play fundamentally sound basketball.

His man is in the middle of the paint on precious' drives.

Compound that with the fact that precious refuses to pass the ball and your offense stalls. Penny going to have force precious to pass the freaking ball

This so much this. Lomax is basically Andre Allen. He needs to play tops 15 mins. That's it.

Penny's obsession with playing him is going to be his demise

Baugh needs to be in at the end of games not Lomax

I'd take Andre in a heart beat.

I still wouldn't Andre playing as much as Lomax plays and especially at the end of games

At the end of games you have to play your best players. Baugh is better than Lomax, but it's now back to back games where in the last 6 mins Lomax is in while Baugh sits.

It's just such poor coaching

Yes, it did. It is the coach's job to teach proper FT shooting and make sure the team is able to do the most simplest things that matter in the game.

FT shooting is a teachable skill.

the program is stuck in mediocre and struggling to get out of it.

After 25 games this is how our record looked for the last 4 seasons:

(2019-20) 17-8 overall; 6-6 in AAC
(2018-19) 15-10 overall; 7-5 in AAC
(2017-18) 14-11 overall; 5-7 in AAC
(2016-17) 18-7 overall; 8-4 in AAC

Here we go again. The posters that want him gone are a handful. Fans are frustrated and are rooting for Penny to turn it around. We have been on mediocrity for way too long and if Penny’s coaching tenure fails, the program will be in a heap of trouble. We need him to succeed but most criticism has been constructive. We can’t keep blaming players at this point of the season for lack of coherent offensive sets and barely any progression in individual development of players other than perhaps Boogie.

Get down from your soapbox, no one hates Penny. Most of us hate the fact that he has done little this year to show that he's a good coach at this level. He may yet get there but he aint there right now.

Yeah and he's done a lot of big things really bad.

This. Lomax will be the demise of Penny. Lomax provides nothing on offense he is essentially Andre Allen out there.

I said it after the Cincy game. When Lomax is in the game the offense immediately goes to crap because the ball will stick in his hands.

Andre Allen would start every game on this team, and deserve it.

C'mon, man. He cut his teeth on this team and screwed it up.

OK, the weed NCAA no show did slip my mind, but he was a much better player, in my opinion.

It is just no offense. Guys standing around while Precious plays one three. Guards jacking threes. Players dribbling around aimlessly. Players making the same lazy passes to nowhere they were three months ago.

PLEASE STOP THIS “NBA system” we are running. We do not have the players for it.

Boogie is the one exception. Everyone else has either stalled at where they were or have regressed.

Are we factoring in losing the best player on the team again next year, a starter like quinones missing time early, losing a player like dj in the heart of your schedule for months, and someone like boogie not playing well until almost 3/4 of the way into the season? If none of that happens then absolutely, he'll deserve all criticism.

Tigers are 277 in the nation in Free Throw shooting at .676%. They could potentially miss over 250 free throws by the end of the conference tournament.

I feel safe in saying we will not lose a lottery pick next year, so that one will be gone. But of course, we'll still get some bad calls, so . . .
