Neither competed for players against your favorite NFL team or college team. Neither was preempting NFL or NCAA broadcasts. They provided football jobs, gave guys a chance to make a living doing what they loved. Created more experience opportunities for coaches. Provided a laboratory to experiment with rules. Gave officials the chance to improve their skills.
All these things are good for football but yet many football fans are happy they are gone. Just don’t get it.

Forget season 2. The league filed for bankruptcy yesterday.

It’s a lot of “I don’t like it, I think it’s stupid, so therefore no one should have it” mentality we live in these days.
I just thought these leagues were way overpaying for their talent. With it being a minor league, pay those guys accordingly. I think you could have got the same guys paying $1000 a week, with some sort of housing allowance. That would have brought salaries into the $15,000 range for 3 months instead of $50,000 for the same 3 months.

I liked having a spring football league to handle my football fix. I like the differences from the NFL and college. I liked hearing the playcalls, what's going inside a review challenge. I doubt we will get anything like that for a long time.
