RE: XFL Starts in 15 Minutes on ABC
I only watched the DC game this week, so I don't know about the others, but I really liked that it was played in a MLS soccer stadium. Having experienced football in a MLS stadium at the Cure Bowl recently, I really enjoy the atmosphere that type of stadium brings to the game. I think it'd interesting for the XFL to prefer those types of venues for their teams over a traditional football stadium.

RE: XFL Starts in 15 Minutes on ABC
My personal take away from week one, I’m not sure the play was any better then that if the AAF in week one. The on field camera guy needs to go, the shot from his point of view, waist high,(that’s where he holds the camera) is terrible. I like some of the players interviews and the over air play calling, but at times it became distracting to watching the games. Some of those stadiums looked very not full......I’m not sure why these leagues come in and try to be as big as the NFL right out of the box.

I still think the RFL had it the most right out of any of these spring leagues. And there were no TV deals for that league.

Attendance and TV market will drop after the curious viewers walk away after week one. They will struggle to complete the season, and they need a couple seasons to really gain traction to the casual fan. Is Vince willing to drive this boat for a couple years losing large amounts of money, or does he continue this venture making tweaks along the way that make this a more cost effective venture???

Too bad they went with Globe Life for Dallas. Should have gone to San Antonio, one of the successful AAF cities.

Had some friends go to the game in Houston and they had fun. Heard people talking about it this morning on the elevator at work too. I will be interested to see if it can sustain or be fun for a bit and die off. I was surprised they only sold the lower bowl at UH's stadium (aside from the home side. Thought it might sell more than UH but I was wrong.

If Vince is willing to lose money for three years, it might work.

Only got to watch the Saturday games but I enjoyed them.

I feel like the Dallas team could have played in TCU’s stadium and branded as a Fort Worth team instead. That side of the metroplex would love to have a pro team of their own.

The attention in those NFL cities will fall quickly. This is where the AAF had it right, problem is those AAF cities had teams when the XFL was announcing their cities. They got in each other’s way on that. I also prefer the AAF way of doing on side kicks.

Arlington is closer to the Fort Worth side of the metroplex, but I agree with the point you're making. With FW and Dallas not being best friends, FW people would maybe get behind a team that had "Fort Worth" in the name and played there.

I get what everyone’s saying about Ft. Worth and don’t disagree.

However, from a purely “marketing” standpoint, Dallas is gonna trump Ft. Worth every time.

XFL already reporting a Coaching casualty . . . After 1 game, LA fires their D Coordinator, Pepper Johnson. Johnson had 16 years experience in the NFL, 13 of those on the staff of Bill Belichick.

. . .. not sure I'd wanna be the "next guy" in line for that job. Seems like a "Bush League" move for sure.

Silvers with a long TD pass for Seattle. A little SBC football on a February Saturday night.

Seattle wins making them 1-1. The presentation by FOX was very, very good.

RE: XFL Starts in 15 Minutes on ABC
Through 6 games thus far, league is plagued by poor QB play.

So far, no XFL QB has thrown for 300 yds.
Collectively, XFL QBs have thrown as many INTs as TDs.
Yesterday, Silvers of the Seattle Dragons completed 7of 18 for 91 yds.
Two Viper QBs combined for 0 TDs and 3 INTs.
Guardians QB McGloin went 8 of 19 for 44yds., 0 TDs, and 2 INTs.

Cardale Jones proved to be the exception, throwing for 276 yds. and 2 TDs.

XFL teams are averaging 17 points per game. In the NFL last season, teams averaged 23 point per game. This in a league (XFL) that boasts of rules that are supposed to favor offensive production and high scoring games.

The offense takes longer to gel than the defense. We were complaining about the Same thing with the AAF after a couple weeks play. IIRC, the offensive play was improving when they shut the doors on the league. I would think by week 5, offensive play will be better. You just have to be patient.

I had the same thought yesterday. Defense always seems to be ahead of the offense early, and in this case these these teams have a grand total of two games each under their belts as franchise organizations.

Hearing the coaches making calls, I’m sure, sounded good in the conference room, but it a complete failure. First off, it’s still in play calls that I don’t understand. Second, the audio is terrible, it’s over the announcers while everyone is talking at the same time. Like the producer just decides at random times to hit that button without telling the announcers that it is happening and it is ridiculously loud on my TV. They can go ahead and cut that out of future broadcast.

The coaches calls sounds light-years better on the radio broadcast. I happened to be in my car and the broadcast was on. The radio announcers stay quiet when the coaches make their calls and then the analyst will quickly explain what the play will be. If TV would do it that way it would make more sense.

The XFL doesn't have preseason games like the NFL. Whole new rosters, where with the NFL there is some continuity with rosters and coaches. Give it some time for guys to gel.

As a Denver Broncos fan, it certainly appears that finding a quality QB is a challenge.
