All I can say is that pretty much everyone commenting on this forum has no idea what they are talking about when it comes to enrollment at WMU or at college in general. Just an infantile understanding of the real problems and future challenges.

You all should probably sit this one out until and unless WMU asks for your involvement. You are not helping.

Naturally, with your profound wisdom you can set us straight in the error of our ways?

This is a discussion forum, people discuss things. That involves a fair amount of conjecture and speculation.

If you're waiting for someone to pull irrefutable statements out of their adze you're going to be waiting a long time. Nearly everything in this forum is a matter of opinion.

Did WMU 'ask for your help' or did you just volunteer that opinion? 05-nono

I've seen that second video before. :)

I had mentioned a few pages back I thought schools needing to cut a lot of fluff, but I've been thinking lately colleges need to work a lot more with employers in helping students find employment. They already do to some extent, but it's not enough. Assisting 10 or so students in each field of study w/ landing internships & hosting career fairs & **** are nice, but when you're graduating a few thousand students a semester, that's not enough.

The 2nd video raises a lot of good questions, but you saw what happened when I proposed some thought-generating ideas about the future direction of Western. Emotional reactions, hostility, personal attacks.

A lot of folks have a vested interest in the status quo and it isn't just the universities.

So, keep on doing exactly the same things we've been doing for decades and soon someone will be dictating to the universities the way it's going to be. Or, they can take the lead and make some changes themselves. But the status quo is not sustainable.
