yep, you get what you pay for...if Temple wants all the bells and whistles you'll have to pay 2+ million a year with 12 million up front.
or you could pay like half that at FF and deal with the things listed above.

Exactly.
Having grown up as a HS FB fan in a small town, at a plain FB field with wooden bleachers, no bathrooms, and no vending, I probably enjoyed those games as much as I have enjoyed watching college and pro games, if not moreso.
Yes, watching games at Franklin Field would be considered "roughing it" by some, in comparison to the Linc, but it's an Ivy League stadium with tons of tradition (both the Ivy League power conference decades and the Eagles' seasons played there). The fans spend ~ 2 hours there. Fewer creature comforts don't necessarily make the games less enjoyable.

I think you have Penn confused with PSU...but considering the Trump talk you may be drunk.

Trying to find a link, but I read somewhere that the U of Miami, a private school, gets paid to play at Hard Rock, which was built with private funds!

While the Linc is the Eagle's stadium it's still very much a community facility. At least every now and again they'll dec it out with some Temple stuff to make it feel like a home. That would not be the case at Penn in way. It would be embarrassing for any nationally televised game. The lockeroom, concessions and press facilities are at best low-level FBS too.
The stadium also has virtually no available parking for tailgating and requires the students to take two separate subway lines to get there and then walk a bit.
If I'm headed to Franklin Field it better be for a Lehigh-Penn contest, not a Temple home game.

The Eagles know Temple is getting an extra 4 mil a year starting next season for TV. They simply want their fair share of that TV money. They figure their fair share is aprox 100% of it.

This is an incredible situation. When Mercedes Benz Stadium was being announced we kind of got a whiff that the Falcons were about to pull something similar . But then the Braves made test announcement. I am just shocked that given the circumstances Temple leadership has not pushed harder behind the scenes with city government to get red tape removed for an ocs.

If Tulane was able to 'work it out' with their wealthy neighbors Temple should be able to do the same...of course, it's also possible the Eagles/Temple have found a middle ground on leasing the Linc and are ironing out the final deets of an imminent agreement.

That's my guess. Because whatever Temple leadership wants to do they will do. If they wanted to build an ocs they would be doing that now. They would have sat down with all the necessary parties and behind closed doors and it would have gotten done. We had neighbor opposition as well which seemingly went up in smoke and blew away. My guess is that Temple never had any intention of building a stadium and that they are perfectly comfortable at the Linc even at the increased price.

What about the MLS stadium that Villanova was so famously going to use during Judy Genshaft’s campaign for BCS football in the Philadelphia suburbs?

Seats 18,000 and is far away with no public transportation. For 2020 and 2021, the only option is the Linc.

I misspoke. I meant Temple trustees. You have an almost $8B annual impact on the state of PA. This is where phone calls and backroom meetings come in.

Can’t believe Temple tore down their very own stadium in 1997. Even crazier, they sold the land in 2002. Seems pretty short sited even if they thought they’d never play football again. Surely they had growth plans they could have used the land for. And now, here they are, unable to find a spot to build a stadium.
