Taking the thread off topic but I'm definitely loyal to The Athletic too and highly recommend it. Everything that makes sites like ESPN, SI, etc terrible is what The Athletic is attempting to avoid.
Zero ads
Zero pop ups
Zero politics or agendas
About the cleanest website you can find
Writers can write about what they want to write about
The more teams you're a fan of and want to follow, the better value the service is. I get great local coverage for Bearcats basketball and football, Blue Jackets, Reds, Indians, and then Bengals, Browns, and Cavs when I care enough to read.. along with great national stuff.
Look around online and there's bound to be discount codes where it shouldn't cost more than 2 or 3 bucks a month. I think at most you're paying $48 a year.
To keep it on topic: Eamonn Brennan's bubble watch was updated about an hour ago.. he has Wichita State and Houston as "should be in" and Memphis with "work left to do"..
"Give Memphis this much: It has the American’s best interests at heart. The Tigers looked like the most solid outfit in the league a week ago; two losses later, and suddenly we’re looking at SMU and Tulsa as potential bubble teams. The latter is the closer of the two, but both have significant résumé flaws that hold them back. The same is true of Cincinnati (NET: 58, SOS: 35), which has good headline figures and is trending in the right direction after two more wins … but the Bearcats have still have those three Quadrant 3 losses weighing them down. Patience is advised."

Does anyone know if ESPN is still doing those articles where they list teams by conference and group them into categories like "should be in", "work left to do" etc? It's one of the few pieces they put out that I usually like to read each week, but I haven't seen any yet. Thought they usually started coming out mid January.
The writer who used to do such a good job with that moved to The Athletic, and he still does it there. ESPN still does one I think, but the one on The Athletic is way better.
Thanks. Is it still called Bubble Watch or does it go by a different name?
Thanks to all the others who responded to my question as well
Still called Bubble Watch.
Here’s the link (though it’s a paywall site, as The Athletic is a subscription based service): https://theathletic.com/1548296/2020/01/...ed-article
Worth the subscription in your eyes?
IMO, it is not worth the subscription cost I paid ($35.99). The articles concerning the Tigers are mediocre and I can obtain other information I desire from other sources. I doubt I will renew unless I get a better deal.

He has Tulsa in as the auto bid (since they would be the conference leader if the season ended today), but below the at-large cut line at a 12 seed.

Probably going to purchase a sub later today, just applying to a lot of law schools so I'm trying to get as much info as possible before I drop even more money this month lol

I would take it. Tulsa has had good success as a 12 seed and unless our record in conference is exceptional it might take three in a row in early March to get us in.

I think Houston and Wichita State are in and if SMU or Tulsa and possibly Cincinnati finish top 3 in the league then I think they are solidly in. Memphis needs to finish strong and gets in.

Dunno who has +, though with our ESPN deal showing lots of it on +, might as well.
Both complimentary and dismissive of Houston at the same time. While also hugely dismissive of schools' records like Texas Tech.

While I'm on the subject, for any SMU and Tulane fans reading this, I am considering applying to both of your schools. But I know private schools tend to be a little less generous with scholarship money, which is important to me. To fans of each respective school, any info as to whether or not your university tends to give decent financial aid? I know I can find general info on the web but it's nice to hear things from people personally connected to a university.
Thanks in advance!

In my experience, Private schools tend to give MORE scholarship funds, but when it's all said and done, the costs between the private vs the public end up being roughly the same. Tulsa was always really generous with their scholarships. I would look at how much a school increases tuition year to year though. Sometimes you think you have enough scholarships in your freshman year, only to be overwhelmed by your senior year.

Not to suggest something out of what you are already considering, but being from the Northeast, have you looked into Fordham Law School? I know several grads from there that are very happy and successful.
Just a thought...

Back on topic, i believe we get 5 this year but it might be only 4... Tulane and ECU are winning games that they would have lost last year, and UCF is playing better than most folks here thought they would according to the poll on this board.

Thanks for the advice! I actually am well aware of Fordham, it's a great school. Just more looking to get out of the Northeast, preferably down south (although I've been accepted into a grad program in IR out in Cali as well, so that's a possibility too.) There's one school I'm applying to in CT (Quinnipiac, since they have a fellowship that would pay me to go to school there) but other than that I think every school I apply to will be further south than DC
