NET loved Houston last year. Seems from my completely untrained eye, the NET values winning over everything else.

memphis not making it with those numbers
the fact they werent blowing out the bad teams they played earlier is going to hurt them in the long haul
smu/cincy winner likely starts making their case that they should be on the bubble//loser in really bad shape....
cincy has a monster 5 game schedule coming up ..they need to win 3...and then only lose once for the rest of the year and they'll be in

Looking at those numbers, my guess is 4 teams make it in. WSU and Houston, then 2 of Cincy, Memphis, SMU and Tulsa.
Does anyone know if ESPN is still doing those articles where they list teams by conference and group them into categories like "should be in", "work left to do" etc? It's one of the few pieces they put out that I usually like to read each week, but I haven't seen any yet. Thought they usually started coming out mid January.

Yeah they do. They just haven't started them yet this season.

They had them up last year, so I imagine it will be back soon. They call it Bubble Watch. I think CBS Sports might do something similar if I recall correctly.

Just rooting for ECU to sneak out of the 200's. Might already be there if they didn't have that disaster 10 point home loss to Coppin.

The writer who used to do such a good job with that moved to The Athletic, and he still does it there. ESPN still does one I think, but the one on The Athletic is way better.

It stinks Tulsa lost a couple of the OOC games they did or they might be in the top 25 now. This at least gives a hint that getting 5 in if things break right isn't out of the question.

That's a broad range. Two would be awful. Four would be acceptable, but should be a minimum.

There's very little chance IMO that the conference doesn't get 3. More than that becomes dicey.
2 would require Memphis continuing to collapse, but not at the expense of propping up any of Tulsa, Cincy, or SMU.
The bottom would have to do a ton of work and just start crushing the top for us not to get 3 bids.

Thanks. Is it still called Bubble Watch or does it go by a different name?

Not if it’s just for the Bubble Watch piece. But the athletic as a whole is amazing. They have a beat writer for almost every team (Check if UConn has one), college or pro. So you can follow both local and national coverage for the teams and sports you choose.
The writers don’t get measured on ‘clicks’ or any of that crap you see nowadays, so they get to write stories they are actually interested in. And it shows. The pieces are so much more high quality IMO.
In my mind, it’s the best thing to happen to sports journalism in a long time. I’m not trying to give the hard sell, though I suppose it appears I am.
If you are genuinely curious, check out if they cover what you are interested in. You don’t have to sign up with my referral link below to get a discount, but if you do it gives me credit for referring you. Not much, but I do get something for full disclosure. You can sign up elsewhere and prob get the discount too. It’s like $36 for an entire year.

Thanks, I'll definitely look more into it tomorrow. Based off what you wrote, it does sound like a good thing to happen to journalism. Words cannot describe how sick I am of click bait lol. If I do decide to purchase a subscription, I will definitely use your referral link
