#1 Team in the nation in HRs this year with 50, 5 of those being Grand Slams (24 games, 2.08 HRs per game), Marshall has the nations HR leader in Mya Stevenson with 12
#3 Team batting avg in the nation at .516
#2 Team in on base % at .712%
#7 Team in doubles with 31
The only thing this team is missing is a Ace pitcher. If Marshall had Abigail Harter, Andi Williamson or Jordan Dixon in the circle they would be a bulldozer in CUSA. Without an Ace like those 3 Marshall would have still been a a force along with WKU and North Texas and who knows CUSA may have been able to get more than 1 program in the NCAA.

Lol. Knew eventually an innuendo would come of it. It's the year I started at WKU.

Alas for what could have been. Unfortunately pitching seems to be oh so important in women's softball. The best teams start with pitching and build around that, which in this case is Marshall's Achilles heel. I think u guys would have been very competitive but would have eventually been done in by your pitching or a lack there of.

RE: 2020 CUSA Softball
Not sure why so many think their softball team is better than North Texas. The choice to win the conference pre-season that has done nothing other than prove the merit of that prediction. Best record in the conference with the exception of WKU who has not come close to playing the oc schedule that NT has.
We can all opine nearly any results as the season is not likely to ever be completed. No doubt CUSA would have been a great competition, but based on the play thus far; NT is and should be the highest ranked team. NT split with #7 OU at their home field and took #2 UT to extra innings and lost by 1 in Austin.

Charlotte just hired the 2019 Softball America Pitching Coach of the Year. I hope you are right.

Its not an Achilles heel. Marshall has 2 pitchers on the roster that can turn into the Ace. Ashley Blessin (HS- 68-4 in 4 years, .048 ERA, 1,098 strikeouts) was actually 9-1 this year and looked like she could turn into that Ace. We also have Delaney Heaberlin (HS 71-4, .061 ERA, 987 strikeouts) hasn't had as many innings pitched in college but the tools are there.
Also adding Brianna McCown will bring in a straight power pitcher who can change things up when needed and be the DH at times.

No doubt another year to develop will help us all. Hope all our seniors will take advantage of the offer to come back. We may have a very competitive conference next year. Was really looking forward to our series with NT. Wanted to truly see if we were as good as our record implied.

I was too. WKU looked like they were going to give us a tough series. North Texas was on the brink of being ranked. I wish we could have played more of the conference schedule before it all got shut down.

RE: 2020 CUSA Softball
Despite the global economic downturn and revenue loss caused by COVID19, North Texas is still building. In truth, I thought these projects would at least be delayed, if not scrapped all together. But, here are photos of the new bullpen and hitting facility going up at our softball complex. I apologize for having to post a link. I don't know how to post photos from twitter.

Nice. As the parent of a former player, it was common practice at least in our area, to have to contend with lessor facilities than baseball. it is good to see schools stepping up. UAB is planning to build a clubhouse for our team.

If you are right and the money was already spent, then we will also be getting a new field, outfield wall, dugouts, and additional seating this off-season. If that happens, I'll post pictures of the finished product.

RE: 2020 CUSA Softball
Interesting news on the softball front...
Although UNT agreed to fund the seniors for the extra year of eligibility the NCAA granted, the group of 8 decided to move on to their respective careers after graduation. While I'm happy for the girls, I'm sad about how strong the team might have been next season. Here is the story from the DRC.
https://dentonrc.com/rsssports/unt-softb...061a3.html
And in related news, North Texas added Texas graduate transfer Tuesday DeMargosian. DeMargosian had been a starter or major contributor for the Longhorns since her freshman year. Incidentally, DeMargosian scored the winning run earlier this season, when UNT fell to #2 Texas 3-2 after 9 innings in Austin. It appears DeLong has made another good addition to the North Texas roster.
