Boise State, San Diego State, and Air Force, football-only to the AAC.

14 team conference complete.

Air Force or Colorado State, who does ESPN want to take Uconns spot. A full share doubles their pay, but ESPN could really tank FS1 and MWC by taking multiple and having them take a phases in starting at 75% share and 25% going to the AAC.
Does ESPN care that much?

Since the AAC and ESPN are currently in negotiations over the UConn withdrawal---it would appear that they do.

It would be foolish to think conversations between the AAC and ESPN aren't happening with respect to the MWC impending deal. I am sure they asked Aresco who indicated interest after UCONN gave notice and what if any value they hold. We still have the potential NCAA agenda vote to allow divisionless conference champ games, the Big 12's next media contract and the playoff expansion possibility on the horizon, so I don't think there will be a rush to do anything until this all plays out. Fans should ask for a window seat and enjoy the ride for the next few years.

Oh no doubt, but in that tweet he's not saying it's in the works or anything. He basically is just pointing to a few positives of why Colorado State would be an enticing candidate.

Rule #! - don't add anyone that doesn't bring added value.

MW schools are more interesting because the theoretical eastern candidate you mention that is good at basketball AND football AND adds value—-simply doesn’t exist. The closest thing to what you are looking for is the hybrid addition of Army+VCU...but Army is not interested.

Then don't add anyone. Make it work with 11.

Someone please explain to me the boner that AAC folks have for Air Force? As an SDSU fan I just don't get it. Their FB is good maybe once every 5 years, their basketball is always bad and playing either sport at the Academy is brutal due to travel, elevation and weather. Some seem to think AF is valuable as an academy, but that has never been the case as part of the MWC.

When does the ESPN deal with Boise end? If fox takes over them as well, I think this will be the beginning of the end of their relevance. ESPN does them favors by talking them up.

Does ESPN care that much?

Do bears hibernate in January?

Do bats fly at night?

Do the swallows return to Capistrano?
Just saying, the tenor of this thread is that ESPN really really cares about wanting an AAC football #12 and that this MWC contract will be the trigger for them to assemble in their war room. I'm thinking...no?

The Mouse is very interested in neutralizing rivals , especially in the cord cutting environment. It will not take much effort or expense to cut MWC's throat and hobble Fox.
But it's G5...

Any school 2k to 3.5k miles away is better than UAB/ODU/GSU/UNT. They just cannot stomach it.

RE: FOX WINS MOUNTAIN WEST RIGHTS FROM ESPN
The take that ESPN will promote having the AAC consume parts of the MWC is due to how ESPN played the Big East when they turned down their offer.

The Big East wasn't really anything special but ESPN went out of their way to dump on them. Conversely, ESPN really goes out of it's way to promote the AAC.

It seems that ESPN has largely ignored the MWC but they do continue to respect Boise. If the MWC leaves ESPN except for BSU, I am not sure how they will play it because I wouldn't think they will want to negatively impact BSU.

After having Navy as a conference member, what I have noticed is these military academies have a strong national brand. Whenever an AAC school plays Navy, the TV ratings are pretty strong. When Navy came to Cincinnati, we had a lot of local vets attend the game that would not have otherwise come to watch us play just any team. I suspect it would be the same for Air Force, particularly since we have Wright-Patterson Air Force Base less than 60 miles away. Most of the schools in this conference have an Air Force Base within similar proximity.

Just my two cents.
