Replace SDSU with Air Force, and you got a good plan. SDSU is into the Pacific time zone. No thanks. Plus, Air Force is a national brand. SDSU is not.

I am for just adding CSU only. No need to bail out Boise or SDSU. They made their bed let them lie in it.

ESPN would be looking to replace ESPN+ subscriptions that they Projectioned with Conn.
They would need Olympic sports for that
That would be Buffalo

Doubt it. First it needs to be a football oriented addition, and second Buffalo is not moving any media needles IMHO.

In a related note, Chris Gardner tweeted the following regarding ESPN+ production costs from the ECU AD.

'East Carolina athletics director Jon Gilbert said each broadcast will cost the athletic department around $6,500-$7,500 to hire announcers and a production crew. Multiplied by 45, that’s more than $300,000 annually spent on broadcasting games...'

Stephen Igoe from Hoist the Colours discussed this 12/10 with Gilbert on the radio.

Article: New AAC TV deal provides more money to ECU, but also challenges

So we're basically shelling out $300k but getting a $5 million bump every year. Also about a $1 million one time cost to upgrade the broadcast booth. I'll take it.

So, it's not $2M per year to produce ESPN+ games? Color me shocked! 04-jawdrop

Somebody should look up all the old posts and ban everybody who said that. 03-lmfao

Oh I'm sure the realignment board still believes that's true.

The clueless MW fanboy keyboard warriors on the Mountain West board are absolutely certain of it. 03-lmfao

This addition would also open the door for future expansion with BYU, Boise State, or SDSU, since they would want a western wing to join the AAC.

CSU attendance and viewership is not good. If you watch them on TV you will see the new stadium (36K capacity) is almost always half full. BB attendance is not great either. They claim to be in the Denver TV market. Actually they are 56 miles out of Denver. AFA is a much better choice for FB only. Unfortunately they may not want to come.

I agree about Buffalo. Unfortunately there are no good north eastern candidates available. We should not add south eastern schools either. Southern Miss, Marshall and the rest are below us. We can not afford to take a step down.

They averaged 29,000 in a year where they went 4-8. That's pretty solid attendance. It's probably a bit inflated, but still good.

RE: Revised TV deal coming
CSU would be good if they can turn Football back around. For a while there, they were selling out and doing really well... and then they had a bad hire in Bobo, and honestly, I am not in love with their new hire. They had a chance to lock in some great choices and went and got Boston Colleges reject. I think they sealed their fate with that move.

BYU is coming and I dont care. Yes they could have helped us with P6 Status, but well get it on our own and they will still be an indy begging for attention.

Really the options are Boise as a football only, which will require them to do a big Mi Culpa, get some humility and come over (which I dont think will happen) or we get Air Force, which I think is the most likely option.

I do love SDSU, BUT thats too far out unless we add three and then the problem becomes...WHos the other two?

They are one to REALLY watch over the next couple years. Arroyo just might be able to make them good and soon they will have that new incredible facility that they will be sharing with the Raiders.

IF they can get their Bball back to the level they were under the Shark and get football respectable, then down the road they could help bridge to SDSU if we wanted to expand.

Bringing in Air Force, UNLV and SDSU wouldnt be the worst thing "If" they can build up and get good.

Meh, Colorado State and UNLV have been these so-called sleeping giants forever. If I want to take a trip to these places I will schedule a vaca... no need for either of these teams in this conference as they would not add to the bottom line.

I think AF is by far the best add as FB only. Would be great for AF and Navy, frees up another OOC game. Move Tulane east. You then can either stay at 11 for BB or add one.

With the p5 now discussing an 8 team playoff (which I feel means that it's only going to be a matter of time), the only logical additions are Boise, Byu, SDSU or an Airforce/Gonzaga combo. If we can get this done preemptively the 5-1-2 scenario could reasonable become an official 6-2 scenario with the AAC being granted a guaranteed spot with some garbage language that hypothetical leaves the g4 some fairy tale way in. Kinda like it is now.04-cheers

With an ESPN rep sitting right next to him, Aresco said football brand even football only...that's what they are looking for.
