Yeah you guys better stick with UTEP and North Texas. Appalachian State, Georgia Southern, Troy, Arkansas State would eat you guys alive.

Personally, I would just stick to those 12. I'd go Marshall, WKU, Middle, FAU, App and Ga. Southern in one division with USM, La Tech, UAB, Troy, Ark St and Louisianna in the other.
That keeps us with very limited exposure to schools outside the top 100 and creates a much more friendly conference for travel. I'll let you know when I get the ADs lined up for the meeting. Think I'll have it at CLT just for fun.
CLT and ODU over Ark State and ULL.
Give us Charlotte, ODU, Appalachian, Liberty, Georgia st, Georgia southern, FIU, FAU & COASTAL (FOOTBALL) VCU, Charleston & George Mason (basketball). Three final fours, nine national football championships. And a World Series Championship in baseball. Reaching from Washington DC to Miami.
Seven major cities, the Appalachian Mountains, three beaches & the largest university in Virginia.
Give me JMU over Liberty and this is the best traveling conference you’re going to get in the SE. I’m going to a ton of away games. Personally don’t care for the F_U, but it would still be a fun conference.
My imaginary conference has seven teams bowl eligible. And with this conference it would have helped FIU & FAU keep about 15 teams from 8 states from playing in Florida this year poaching recruits.

Highly doubt that, just maybe TX ST. The other schools would welcome USM and Marshall with open arms.

The last 2 schools to leave the SBC, was FAU, then Western. Now take a peak at the last 4 CUSA champions...3 out of 4 belong to those 2 schools and there's a very good chance it will be 4 out of 5. Then you look at next year and Both FAU and Western should be 2 of the top schools in preseason polls.
I would bet money today's USM would not be in the top 3 schools if the SBC presidents and ADs voted. Which they do.
Exactly! What matters is winning which the “flagships” have not been doing. Blaming the “newbies” for their problems when they haven’t won anything in 15 years is really unbelievable.
Technically it was 8 years ago for USM and 5 years ago for Marshall, for football.

Not to be too nitpicky, but since the realignment in 2013, Marshall has the 2nd best winning percentage in all of the G5 (behind only Boise) and has won more bowl games than any other program P5/G5 in that time (won a bowl game every year except 2016). We've simply mastered finishing 6-2 in this league and dropping an inexplicable game, which generally gets you second place.

I fixed that for you.
My point exactly your not relevant to college football
Southern Miss hasn't really been relevant since Fedora left. Not really any other way to put it. Would moving to the Sun Belt really make your relevant on a bigger stage? Or is it more about rivalries with teams like Louisiana and Troy?
USM has played Troy a total of 3 times, 2 in the last 2 FB seasons. Hell this USM is complaining about lack of FBS history, yet...
Troy 2004
USA 2012
Coastal Carolina 2017
Georgia Southern 2014
Georgia State 2013
APPY 2014
Texas State 2012
CC and USA would take a beating from this USM fan and a few others like him, for 2 or 3 years. They would be the reason USM is still losing. Only to pass USM on the field, year 4. One good thing, USM should be able to compete with ULM, in the budget department...
actually both school are similar.
Small budgets, dont have the funds to fire bad coaches and the most important part....
they both beat Bama
There is some deep rooted hatred from you for USM. USM paid a guy $2M to cut him lose. You don't know what you are talking about.

Sun Belt would be a step up but Marshall should just go back home to the MAC and keep scheduling regional ACC and AAC teams out of conference. Marshall/Ohio U games are a money maker and should be played every year in every sport.

App joined the G5 and FBS in 2014 and has a higher winning percentage at 78%. Marshall’s is 67% since 2013.

So if I have the logic right, Southern Miss and Marshall are the flagships and too good for the other losers in this conference. We are holding them back. Charlotte especially, was a bad add to the conference. Looking at the tote board, I see that Southern Miss was 7-5...hmmm, the same as Charlotte. And Marshall at 8-4 just lost to Charlotte. Tell me again how we are the problem.

Now why would you want to rip us away from UAB and La Tech? LOL! ULaLa and Troy I like. I have to see how well USA/USM is attended before I'm sold on sharing a division with them.

Ah, that is the "history" thing they keep talking about. Now I get it. They have been playing football for more than 100 years, and in year 6 we have the same record they have, but we don't have "history".
