I was there in person, but I watched the last quarter on DVR, just to enjoy again. After the game, Bloomgren was being interviewed. After Rice's Honor, you could see Ellerbe in the background break down into tears with a teammate. It must be very difficult to know it's all over.

I usually watch these chats from afar but decided to use this first post ever to show support for the win. Proud we found a way. Bloom is the guy.

From a former RiceU Football player’s perspective- Winning is Hard! Enjoy winning! Negativity breeds negativity

Welcome to the board. Hope you come back often, and from time to time let your fellow Owls know what you’re thinking. The level of input we get from former Owl players here is often very illuminating, always interesting.

Would be nice to see a bit more from Jovoni to acquire more data on our QB situation going forward, not sure he's healthy enough to play vs UTEP. From his one game, I thought he was more accurate than our other QB's, threw nice balls on slants and outs but didn't see enough from his deep ball. Per Bloomgren he has a "howitzer" of an arm. The coaches has also raved about his maturity and/or natural leadership qualities. A good athlete with ideal size. Not enough data to say he checks all the boxes, but an improvement in QB play seems probable, and that could take us all the way to bowl eligibility.

Getting a difference maker at RB, say a grad transfers from a power school, is more valuable than bringing in QB's at this point, but obviously if the right opportunity comes to get a proven impact player at QB you take it, and you recruit at least one QB for every class.

Also, I'd keep booth coordinators and let them control offense/defense but where I count on Bloomgren is getting the O-line rebuilt. That should be his strength. It sure ain't QB evaluation and creative play design, but in blocking technique and schemes, he has an identity.

Bloomgren is following TCU grad transfer Michael Collins on Twitter.

So it does appear that he does have some interest at least in investigating a GT QB.

Collins played HS FB at New Canaan (CT) with freshman LB Garrett Braden.

Hopefully Otoviano will be healthy next year to carry the load. Remember we also have King (Fr) who I think redshirted this year? A bunch of guys we have coming in could see time at running back since they’re listed as “athletes” and often play QB/RB in HS. One recruit was just named first team district RB/CB/return man (Sean Fresch Jr.)

I’d take the best transfers we can get at any position and I think Bloomgren said we’re after a few.

Perhaps our Grad Transfer punter from TCU might be a positive influence to get Collins to transfer to Rice, if Bloomgren thinks he can help the program next year.
