RE: UH QB D'Eriq King to sit out rest of season, redshirt
I actually watched Houston v NTSU on "The Facebook" and he played well. Tune was a highly recruited QB out of high school including P5 and top P6 offers. I think its entirely possible that he ends up fitting well in the UH Offense-probably not better than King-but entirely possible that he might end up being a better fit in the long run.

Memphis has a poster exactly like that one, who rationalizes even the most ridiculous things into something they aren't and never could be, and who always believes they're right in the face of overwhelming evidence. Pink Floyd wrote a song about people like this.

If this is true it is very disheartening for Houston and the conference.

This is quite possible. King has not been an effective passer in this system. I would put money on Tune being the starter next year.

Houston QB D'Eric King plans to sit out the rest of this season. a person familiar with the decision said.
He's likely switching to receiver because that will be his NFL position. Holgerson likes QB's who can throw the ball and that's what he will get. King can be a Tyreek Hill/TY Hilton receiver in the NFL and the best way for him to make money in the draft is by putting a full year of it on tape.

My reaction when I first heard this was that he is changing positions. King is a great athlete but in an offense predicated on the QB being able to throw the ball consistently, his best fit is as a receiver. He could provide some good opportunities for a Wild Cat type package but he appears to be a hindrance in a Holgerson offense that wasn't manipulated to suit his playing style.
If King was at Georgia Southern or Tulane who both run a spread option look he would be King...but Holgerson's offense is more traditional spread/Air Raid.

king had a top 6 national passer rating last season in all of college football (that doesnt include running stats, there are 120 team, over 500 qbs played )
king finished high school with the most passing tds in the most passing tds in texas high school football
lets not play king like he cant pass, or is a triple option qb...
he struggled some this year but lets not get carried away

Agree. Total speculation----but I wouldnt be a bit surprised if we were to eventually find out the kid was dealing with some sort of nagging arm issue.

I think it would be hilarious if Houston only won like 6-7 games next year

True. He might not be able to grasp the intricacies of the Navy offense. Would have to change positions or maybe not see the field at a triple offense school like Navy.

The coach got fired. In their place, I wouldn’t lose a season of eligibility playing for an interim coach who got appointed after the School threw in the towel on the season.

It should all be about them. They aren’t getting paid, so why should they waste a year of eligibility on a meaningless season? I dont blame these players for one second for being selfish.

Right now, it would have to be my grandkid. My kids are in their 40s and 50s. I would tell them to make their own decisions. But I would give them the same advice.
If it were my own decision, I KNOW what I would do. I did it once when the stakes were a lot higher than a silly game.
