My hobbies, Blue Raider athletics - hold season tickets for fb, mbb, wbb, and bsb. Was invested into tailgating in a large manner for years, but I have cut back on time and effort in tailgating.
Since deciding to semi-retire, I have decided to do more travel, other than a select couple of road trips for MT athletics. Renewed my passport, took in carribean cruise this past winter and may do more of that sort of thing in coming years before age and health become a big issue. A big bucket list item for me is a return trip to Australia (spent a couple of weeks there in 2002 on business) before I get past 70.
I like to listen to the old classic rock stuff and 80s and 90s country stuff as well.
I like to read history, War between the States, the Revolutionary War, and early twentieth century stuff. Also classic movies mainly 30s, 40s, and 50s.
I have a Beagle I rescued ten years ago, and just also rescued a pup, of undetermined heritage that we are scratching our heads about. Dogs are a better class of people I have realized more as time passes.

I started liking the various latino brands of music after I moved to Houston because I became good friends with a lot of Colombians here (basically family with some), not to mention about 40% of the students at my middle school are Hispanic/Latino. Heard it at all the parties I went to, and at the quinceañeras my students would invite me to. My Colombian friends don't care for Tejano at all though, but they love salsa, merengue, bachata, cumbia, and so on. I like Tejano too though because it reminds me of San Antonio, and also kinda reminds me of German folk music because of the accordions.
Tejano music is very unique to Texas. It developed over a long period of time and has it's roots stemming from the original Spanish settlers, and contributions of Mexican, German, and American immigrants into the South Texas region. It is truly a blend of classical Spanish guitar, regional Mexican, Country, and German polkas. The polka is a staple of Tejano music. Tejano hit it's peak in the late 80's and early 90's, and has since died out in almost every region of Texas, except San Antonio. But even there it does not enjoy the popularity it once did. The influx of central Americans with other musical tastes has all but killed the Tejano music industry. Though, I expect it to see a resurgence in popularity in the future as people come to realize it as one of the few truly original musical style to emerge from Texas.
Tejano music took a big hit with the death of its queen: Selena.
She was the only Tejano star who made it outside Texas. I remember listening to her music in California. She was the only Tejano star who made a successful crossover to Mexico even though she couldn’t speak Spanish and just memorized the lyrics.
No Selena couldn't speak Spanish. I knew Selena quite well. We are still good friends with her father Abraham, and visit the family when we are in Corpus. But, Selena was not the only Tejano performer to gain a following outside of Texas. Our bands would regularly play in Cali and draw big crowds. In Monterrey Mexico, I remember crowds as large a 50,000 coming out for shows. Of course, Selena was the only Tejano artist to successfully crossover into mainstream music, but some of that could be due to her tragic death and the film.
When I watch Tejano videos I try to spot Gabbanelli accordions. I live down the street from the shop.
Those were certainly the accordions of choice back in the Tejano music days. Buttons, not keys.
1. Biggest Hobby must be Self-inflicted Pain cause I have Seasons Tickets for Titans and MT FB.
2. Swimming
3. Reading non-fiction or fiction as well as any historical, biographical and particularly Civil War
4. Travel
7. Classic Rock, R&B 60's, 70's
Golf, fishing, kayaking, hiking. Anything outdoors. Travel a good bit. Just returned from a trip to Yellowstone and the Tetons. Anytime I can spend with the wife and family is quality time. I enjoy watching college football and any soccer games on the tube or in person. My life is pretty mundane compared to most on here.
