RE: What are your hobbies?
I used to do bodybuilding. Competed in three shows, best place I got was 3rd. I might get on it again but it takes a lot of discipline, time, energy, commitment, will and effort to prep for a show. Usually it’s 16-20 weeks of prep.

I played rugby for awhile in my 20s but once you hit 32 (I’m 41yo) your body tells you it’s time to take a break. I try to follow the NRL but because of time zone differences it’s hard to watch live (games are usually at 2am Central time), I follow the English Premiership league (games are usually in the late morning/early afternoon our time) and I can’t wait for the Rugby World Cup in Japan this fall. I’m rooting for the USA Eagles but the Australia Wallabies are my second favorite team and I like Scotland as the eternal underdogs. Basically, I like everything rugby related.

Other hobbies are weight lifting 4-5x a week, my cardio is long walks (avg is 10 miles), reading and traveling. I used to enjoy college football and basketball but realignment and greed in the sport have diminished the passion I used to have.

Yes to YES. Great stuff.

You inspired me to listen to Fragile this afternoon at work. I really love those three albums that all came out within 1-2 years.. Fragile, Close to the Edge, and Tales.

Throw in the Yes Album along with ELP's debut and Brain Salad Surgery around the same time, there has never been an era like it.

My wife and I have a 38 foot cruiser we keep docked In Nashville which makes weekend boating life really enjoyable.

I’m definitely into drag racing, I’ve got a old Honda Civic I’ve had since the mid 90’s that I’ve built into 600whp bullet. I’m racing in Street Car Takeover next weekend and hoping to run some 9 second passes over 140mph

Usually I weight between 195-200 lbs but for contest prep I can drop to 175. Funny thing is I’m considered “obese” by BMI standards even though I don’t have a belly and love handles and I’m in way better health and shape than most guys around me.

Nice. Yea I wasn’t in competition but I was a gym rat for about 6 straight years. Up at 4am & lift + run prior to our military PT. Then after hours I’d run another 3 miles. I got in really good shape, plus with supplements. I was around the 185-190 range. I loved doing it.

Are there certain workouts that contest prep do vs a pretty experienced lifter does? Like did you have a trainer?

BMI is a totally worthless metric for actually evaluating fitness. I'm sure you are in WAY better condition than I am (older guy here) but I maintain my weight at 195-200 lbs also. I lift some and run about 20 miles a week, plus kayaking or cycling and generally trying to stay active. The BMI tables say I should weigh about 160 which is less than I weighed running marathons 20 years ago. I would look emaciated at that weight. Any time my doctor mentions BMI I tell him it's BS and I don't care what it says. He has stopped mentioning it (finally).

Do your thing and stay healthy. Ignore that crap. It appears you already know that but it is a hot button for me so I had to post.

Are you a teacher? If so what grade level? If not disregard. What music do you listen to? I like pretty much everything but I really love 90’s Rock like Alice In Chains, Pearl Jame, etc

Yeah, I've taught math at every level from 6th grade through HS Geometry. Currently at 6th grade, but coach 7th/8th grade boys.

As for music, you opened up a can of worms because I listen to hard rock, soft rock, alternative rock, progressive rock, heavy metal, R&B, rap, jazz, country, doo-wop, big band, blues, reggae, classical, zydeco, house, electronic, Irish, German folk, German pop, Christian rock, bachata, cumbia, salsa, merengue, ranchero, reggaeton, Brazilian, mariachi, tejano, dubstep, and music in general from every decade. Not even sure if I covered everything I listen to...lol. I have tons of CD's, cassettes, and vinyls, and a smaller collection of 45's.

Two things I loved to do, but no longer have enough time for. I had a my own dark room by the time I was 14. When I retire, I plan to get back into chess. I think it is the greatest game ever invented.

I love astronomy too. What kind of scope(s) do you have?

I've never gone so far as using a dark room or anything, but I love to take pictures of nature mainly. My wife kids me sometimes about how many I take. I don't play chess as often as I'd like, but I run the chess club at my middle school and I'm currently teaching my little girl how to play on her Harry Potter chess set (lol). As far as the scope, we have a Celestron NexStar 90GT, model #22095. Not sure how it compares to others. How about you?
