We aren’t adding a program that can’t pull its weight. Aresco floated a trial balloon about an 11 team football conference on the radio not long ago.

UAB has made a massive commitment to football during the reboot. It really is night and day. New state of the art on campus facility, new stadium in a better neighborhood opening in '21. Highest paid coach in CUSA.

The AAC can do what it wants, but UAB has a history with most of its conference members and is a Carnegie R1 university (academically fits the footprint, as well as geographically).

I don't know what your options are regarding "moving the needle" (other than reading the same internet fodder the rest of you are), but you could do a lot worse than a young, hungry school who you all know.

You did well until the snark about moving the needle

While it is great there is enthusiasm for UAB and they have increased their commitment, they are indeed not a program that gets the same level of attention as the other school students mentioned

Clearly you, a fan, thinks that will change and we are therefor foolish in not recognizing the sleeping giant.

Don’t crush the mild enthusiasm exhibited here for Birmingham.

They are better off now than they were
They are not Boise State or even UCF

Wonderful. I'm sure all your CUSA brethren will enjoy it. AAC still doesn't need you.
I'll take this as your tacit admission that you were wrong.

he often is,
He's for kicking out 2 more members out of the league if they don't also field football or basketball teams.
That would kill the tv contract we just signed with ESPN.

I'm glad you're not in charge of making decisions. You'd add UAB and USM plus two more non-football schools, which would kill ratings.

I'd prefer they stay, but if they leave, invite Army FB only and call it a day.

Army football, Gonzaga basketball sounds good to me.

Gonzaga would never leave the WCC, especially to come all the way East like that, the travel alone would be murder

cuz adding teams like Georgia and Missouri State to our football schedule in the past have SCREAMED ratings.
It would kill our ratings no more than ECU or Tulane have killed our ratings.

if we added USMor UAB...we wouldn't have to add anyone else....Captain Obvious...we'd have 12 members again.
Both schools play football and basketball.

Aresco could do worse. So much worse.

I guess UConn didn’t accept the P6 cookie or the new contract.

I kinda have a soft spot for UAB. why not!

I have a soft spot for Southern Miss, so why not them too since we are going that route

There is no good option for the AAC. Only the two or three teams out west fit what they are looking for. Possibly they might ask Marshall or Buffalo so as to keep Temple and Navy from feeling isolated.

Army has no interest in joining a conference.

And frankly, we shouldn't take Army football even if they were interested.

no worse than Navy.

11-2 2018
10-3 2017
8-5 2016
2-10 2015...but they were in all of those games but 2.

For 2019...I'd say they are looking at 10-3 and a bowl game.
